I am going to miss demolishing the old eggs and b whilst reading of vicars and strippers and naughty cricketers so am wondering what will fill the void.

So far suggestions have been obvious and related to the sister paper and the recent purchase of domain names so Sun on Sunday and Sunday Sun or just Sunday are out there as are Sunday World and Sunday News but there are defunct sunday names that could be resurrected like:

News on Sunday, Sunday Chronicle,?Sunday Correspondent, Sunday Dispatch, Sunday Graphic, Sunday Illustrated, Sunday Referee, Sunday Sportsman, Sunday Worker.

Any original suggestions? The Sunday Hacker? - too obvious... Sunday Snoop?... too Wodehouse...

Suggestions on a postcard please (or just left on your own voicemail) to Wapping by Sunday next.

And in 6 months, or possibly 3, there will be a pious editorial in the Sunday Ordure to the effect that, as it was no fault of the Grand Old Dame of Bouverie Street that the name of the NOTW was dragged through the mud by a few rotten apples, the Sunday Shyte is proud to announce that, following overwhelming demand from advertising agencies and loyal readers alike, on the following Sunday the paper will be re-titled "News of The World"....

This, I think, is probably true. It may be preceded by a number of 'Special Editions' celebrating the NOTW's long history before a new investor, Murdert Rupoch or somebody, will 'give the paper back to the people'.

In Memoriam of the NOTW.

So farewell then The News Of The World,

The News Of The Screws,

That's what some people called you

That was because you took an interest in what famous people,

Got up to in the sack,

Talking about sack,

Wasn't Rebekah Brookes lucky not to get it,

One red-top had to die,

That another could survive,

Oh the poetic injustice of it all.

E.J Thribb is unwell.

I suppose a medieval Cheri would have been lucrezia borgia and ms brooks is another 21st century incarnation with her lasciviousness and tendency to bump off her exes (or just bumping them in this case); is this also something about poisoning the political fabric or something?

    • Also has a free film afternoon once a month… shows a range of films.. Free as well. On first floor. Not great toilets but still.. Staff are all very helpful. Have lessons one to one if you need help on most computer issues. Can borrow iPad as well on site - ground floor. Extremely well stocked library with some new titles as well.
    • Just a short silly one among more prosaic or gloomy posts: libraries are brilliant and we are lucky to have them! I popped into Dulwich Library this afternoon. It was pretty busy and I'd guess there were probably 40-50 people in, plus however many in the kids' section. All sorts of people were borrowing books, getting their blood pressure checked on the machine, printing documents, using computers, getting out the house and off the street, reading the papers and reference books, whatever. Oldies, kids, students and everyone in between. At exam time, it's a safe space rammed with kids studying. It's an elegant building, the staff always seem to be doing their best despite the obvious money challenges, it's open late most days, and all for £0 at point of use. We are all very lucky to have access to Dulwich Library and the other libraries! 👏👏👏
