On that subject, I was pleased top hear that the Heythrop Hunt were given quite a large fine for ignoring the law. Whatever you think of fox hunting, it stinks of arrogance to just go ahead and do it despite what the law says.


That said, the RSPCA Spent stupid money actually bring it to court!

Otta - surely there are many laws that are routinely ignored - does smoking of marijuana, exceeding the speed limit or underage drinking "stink of arrogance" too?

What a terribly sheltered life you have lead if you think my posts are 'venomous and bile filled'. They are nothing of the sort. They are merely designed (and seemingly *very* successful) at tweaking the sensitive nose of the self-righteous.

Maybe not, but saying that he enjoys FG as if it something to be paraded like a badge or a trophy, and to take some sick pride in announcing it to the world is vile and venomous, same as yourself. And I love the way you claim you have an educated palate as if that excuses your disgusting taste for the stuff. Have you tried human lately? I hear all the best people are eating it this year. FFS

It's a vile way to treat a creature because some, for want of a better word, people like the taste. I've always found many of the EDF teasers to be incapable of taking a dose of their own gravy. They dish it out, and when they get hit with a contrary view, suddenly we're self-righteous and all sorts. If you can't take the heat, get out the poxy kitchen. Seasons greetings y'all.

Always admired Bob. But where I think he got something completely wrong here (and unfortunately many people agreed with him) was in suggesting that the objection to fois gras was somehow linked to the class or wealth of the fois gras consumer.


Hence the fois gras supporters allow the thread to deviate into discussions on battery hens and fox hunting.


It's not that at all. It's a case of those eating fois gras being responsible for keeping alive an industry that knowingly and purposefully inflicts pain on an animal daily, with the aim of making that animal ill enough for you to enjoy its diseased liver.


For that, you should all be ashamed. (There is no get out clause available by reference to other animal mistreatments.)

Incidentally, did you know that most battery eggs are now sold for use in ordinary baking products? The battery eggs campaigns were very successful, and comparatively few are now sold directly in supermarkets. However, they're sold instead to the makers of cakes and biscuits so unless you're absolutely sure of the source of the eggs used in your Rich Tea I'd hesitate before you apply the animal cruelty label to anyone else.

      In 2016 London City Airport began using concentrated flight paths. When there's a predominantly westerly wind, incoming aircraft approach from East London (north of the River. When there's a predominantly Easterly wind, incoming aircraft approach the airport from the West: circling through Forest Hill, Dulwich, Vauxhall, Tower Hamlets, Docklands. This latter flight path affects many of us in South East London. https://www.london.gov.uk/who-we-are/what-london-assembly-does/questions-mayor/find-an-answer/london-city-airport-concentrated-flight-paths The planes going into City are often below 2,000 ft, so very noisy. Sometimes we have incoming Heathrow at the same time, flying higher. The early flights that I hear e.g. 04:30 are incoming to Heathrow. They are scheduled to land at 05:30 but are 'early'. Apparently the government allows a percentage of flights to arrive early and late (but these are now established as regular occurrences, informally part of the schedule). IMHO Londoners are getting very poor political representation on this issue. Incredible that if you want to complain about aircraft noise, you're supposed to contact the airport concerned! Preposterous and designed solely in favour of aviation expansion.

      Yet another recommendation for Jafar. Such a nice guy, really reliable and fair. He fixed a problem with our boiler and then incredibly kindly made two more visits to replace a different part at no extra cost.

      I didn't have any problems with plane noise until city airport started flying planes to and from about 5-8 minutes apart from 5.30 am or  6 am,  and even with ear plugs and double glazing I am woken at about 6 well before I usually would wake  up. I have lived here since 1986 and it is relatively recently that the planes have been flying far too low over East dulwich. I very much doubt that they are headinbg to Heathrow or from Heathrow. As the crow flies we are much , MUCH closer to City Airport than Heathrow or Gatwick. I even saw one flying so low you could see all the windows, when I was in Peckham Rye Park.
