Apparently a new vegan junk food delivery is coming to ED

Recommended Posts

Try the Non Dairy Evolution Cookbook for cheeses. I've yet to get properly into it but tried the mayo which was very good and apparently the cheeses are pretty convincing, much better than the supermarket ones. There are a fair few vegan cheese sellers out there, e.g. http://www.lettices.com/ and some fancy but pricey looking ones in Planet Organic, for example.

Alas I tried to order a deliciously fatty and unhealthy junk/fast food vegan burger today from Vegan Plates but I couldn't get through on the site/phone or fb messenger. Is this service definitely live?

ETA they have come back to me to apologise for booking issues today and to arrange for a delivery tomorrow, can't wait.

I've always thought that since a relative of mine lives on 'Cheat Meat' and stuff that looks like streaky bacon but ALL the slices are the same- What's wrong with good old-fashioned straight-up vegetables and there's nothing like a mushroom or a soya bean curry!

Oh my!!!!!!!! The burgers are amazing, I had a cheese one with bbq sauce, even my partner that is a hardcore meat eater really liked it and scoffed his one down. The website seems to be fine today, however I did have an issue with entering my address, I was putting my postcode in and it wouldn't find me, but after writing my full address with the door number it was fine.

10/10

I hope the pizza they just put on the menu are as good as the burgers they do, I haven't seen them on the deliveroo app yet, but they could be affiliated? I'm with you on that its a great concept.

The pizza is great...yummmmmmm the cheese they use is the best vegan cheese I've had, a really lovely base (not to thin) fresh tomatoes on it.... Ive missed pizza so much, Katanita I would urge you to try one, I hope the kebabs come back to.

Ordered a pizza for me and a burger for my partner last night, we both loved both of them, the vegan cheese is very good! better than any supermarket one we have tried over the years, very nice indeed ! It took about 45mins to arrive which was a bit annoying, but was worth the wait! Will be cheekily ordering again tonight.

I ordered the cheezy burger, fries for mini me and churros.

The burger isn?t a hearty size like at GBK (you might want to order an extra patty) but it was the best vegan burger I have tried which makes a huge change to the bean patty I normally get at GBK. My little one who is picky about his fries enjoyed the fries and the churros were tasty too.

A nice addition to the area for those meat free treats.

Thanks for posting this, I have an increasing number of vegan friends so it?s good to know the places I can take them.

I knew there was some controversy about a different vegan burger chain, because of animal testing on one of that other chain?s ingredients. So I thought I?d try to do a little research before suggesting this new ED place to my vegan pals. I have no idea whether or not the same issue affects VB?s ingredients, but what I did find out is that the testing done for the other chain was mandatory for authorities in the USA to approve the food for sale. So I don?t think there?s quite the moral dilemma that I had feared. Here?s a link to a report of the other chain?s public statement: http://vegnews.com/articles/page.do?pageId=9914&catId=1

Ohhh nice, they didn't have the option of pizza last time I ordered, I will give the pizza a try tonight. The kebabs seem to be off the menu.

Good heavens. Well, eejits often ask why vegetarians/vegans want things that taste like meat. From my point of view, having been a vegetarian for thirty years and a vegan for twenty, I gave up meat on ethical and environmental grounds, I loved meat until I gave it up and have always wanted to find a good simulacrum...

So this burger...quite extraordinary. As close to meat as I've ever tasted, frankly (being a greedy bugger) I would happily have eaten about five of them. Don't know how they do it but it was bloody (literally) delicious. Highly recommended.

On a slight down note the chips were absolutely rubbish, they need to sort that out. But other than that, superb.

Rendelharris, I totally agree with you about the burgers, they were fabulous. I had fries also and I thought they were really lovely, you may of just had a bad batch?

I ordered again last night and went for the double burger this time because I am a greedy sod!!

Yes- especially the 'bleeding' ones and the price.....

Still I'm suspicious of ALL takeaways since I was ill for 3 days after my first kebab! (yes- and it was from ED)
