I see the Blue sh*te have had their new stadium plan rejected..

So plan B is this bollox from the Everton CEO :

"A shared stadium is perhaps an option if it's affordable. We have to look at where we can raise money, because potentially Liverpool will have to obviously contribute to that, and Liverpool City Council perhaps might need to find some money. Our history is one of creativity and innovation and if we are the first major English club to look at sharing then we're not scared of making those decisions."

Apologies - been avoiding this thread because it is utterly tedious and I do not give a toss about Man U Arsenal or Liverpool.

Yes, inevitably Paul Hart, nice guy but clueless manager, has been given the boot. Noises form inside Fratton suggest Avram Grant will take over later today, but all my contacts within the club now play for Tottenham so I do not really have a clue!

Gone off football to be honest! Modern Warfare 2 is taking over my life!

Not to subvert the thread (though likewise give not a shit abou the top 3 arsenal, man u and chelsea, not that anyone talks about Chelsea, but when are you going to help me with those two player spec ops missions. And saw you've been dipping toes into multiplayer at last!!

Funny that isn't it we never get any Chelsea chit chat - as you'd imagine south London would be one of their heartlands but I guess that shows what a mickey mouse club they are even with all those billions they still have a small fanbase.

Tbh SP although it's been great beating Chelsea and Arsenal at Anfield I'd rather knock out a top continental team - probably the only disappointment from 2005 was having a semi final trip to Stamford Bridge rather than the trip/scalp of Bayern Munich. It was such a damp squib being at the Bridge when you consider the rest of the route to winning the CL that season.

I can't stand Chelsea - but they do have a 'propa' and large fanbase that's pretty extensive accross South London (SW especially) and the western side of the South East but their old school fans probably don't by and large p1ss about on middle class internet forums with the 'newbie' fans that tend to inhabit them...Chelsea's plastic newbie fanbase is ironically enough extensively based around Chelsea, Fulham and all of them yuppie areas.....

    • I was lucky enough to go to Japan earlier in the year and late one night ended up having to drunkenly navigate my way back to the hotel using my phone. I was briefly nervous, then realised I was in Japan and they don't really do street crime/phone snatching and all was fine. My point being, I don't spend a lot of time worrying about safety in London, but I wonder if I/we have got so used to being on edge (holding bags/phones close) we don't give it much conscious thought. And yes, as mostly a pedestrian if there was less traffic crime my life would be a lot calmer!
    • There’s an interesting discussion to be had on the need for infrastructure generally and on bottlenecks in specific areas, as noted above. However on new houses specifically, I’ve never understood the infrastructure argument. The people to go in the new houses already exist and are already using infrastructure. Thanks to twenty years of under-building we’ve got millions of adults stuck living with parents, living in house shares, paying a fortune to rent cramped flats etc - that’s what a housing crisis is. They’re presumably all using road/trains, showering and weeing whilst doing so. Building them houses doesn’t necessarily increase the need for infrastructure much, if at all. The Abundance Agenda podcast is a great listen if you’re interested in this stuff.
