A good win for the Arse tonight, potential banana skin avoided...they should easily qualify now.

Fergie's plan to field a second string against the Huns could backfire even further tomorrow night, Valencia looking good domestically...will be happy with a draw. Spurs need a win against the 'weakest' team in their group and hopefully they'll achieve that.

A highly entertaining game at Elland Road in the Championship last night - at least for the neutrals.

After going 0-1 down to local(ish) rivals, Preston, Leeds romped into a 4-1 lead only to be pegged back to 4-2 before half-time. 6 goals in 45 minutes is good but after the break, galvinised by a father-inspired rant from manager Darren Ferguson, Preston stormed back with another 4 goals to win 4-6.

As a Leeds fan I'm disappointed with result but can't help look on in disabelief at such a scoreline. Concede six goals at home? Lose a three goal lead? Score 4 and not win? I can't decide which is more ridiculous.

On an aside, I'm saddened but not surprised that ex-Leeds star Jermaine Beckford is making little impact at Everton bar a penalty miss against Brentford. He's got an eye for goal but lacks the refinement needed in the Premier League.

Jeez! That must have been fun to watch but not if you're a Leeds fan obviously. I think you're absolutely spot on about Beckford. I know it's early days but I can't see him making that step up in class. His first touch is poor and will prove to be a very poor investment for Everton.
Defensive frailities glaringly obvious again last night despite the scoreline. Rooney out for 3 weeks as aresult of an "injury". Hmmm, only the most cynical among us would think that it will also allow some time for the dust to settle of his domestic issues and that there is no "injury" at all.

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has backed Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce's claims that he could manage one of continental Europe's top sides. "How do people know that if he was given the AC Milan job he couldn't do a better job than anybody else?" he asked.

Delusional or what.

Probably too early to judge Beckford, he looks like he needs to feed off another striker a la Yakubu, but the Toffees aren't playing that type of system, their gameplan is built around the passing strengths of Pienaar, Arteta and Cahill which is understandable..he put in a good shift against Utd in the Cup and scored a good goal I grudgingly seem to remember :X
I think we're all agreed that the sadly deluded Sam Allardyce's brand of football is Neanderthal. I don't think he'd last five minutes in any of those jobs he yearns for. If he's as good as he thinks he is then why hasn't got one of those top jobs. He thought he'd hit the big time when he went to Newcastle United. Didn't last long there Sam did you.
So what would improve MOTD? I think we need presenters/pundits to put forward much more in depth analysis, rather than the bland, "yeah he made some good runs", and all on the sofa nodding sagely when one of them shares their wisdom with us. How about putting a more challeging view poiint across to us, the audience, and perhaps the pundits actually disagreeing with each other and having enough intelligence to say why they disagree. As most of these guys are former footballers who've played at a very high level, surely they have far more to contribute than they do currently?

They need to mix it up a bit, far too stale. MOTD2 worked better with one-off guests (haven't seen it this season, so presume they still have the same format only without Mr Glum).

I quite enjoy Lee Dixon's input, so would prefer to see more of him than Shearer who is out of his depth on tactical analysis, but someone needs to tell 'Dicko' that slim fit shirts aren't a good look on a middle aged man slouched on a sofa. The editing leaves a lot to be desired too...

    • It's such an uneven provision, I live just west of E Dulwich towards Herne Hill/Dulwich Village and there are four Post Office counters within 10 mins walk max. They are all in local shops and provide a great service.
    • Wanted to come on and do a review for DRJ Builders as I know how hard it is to find good quality and reliable builders in the area! David O'Brien and DRJ Builders are more than that - they are an absolutely brilliant building firm who we can highly recommend. We used them to do a side return extension, loft extension and full house renovation in 2016. They did such a great job, we have just used them again to add on a new rear extension to the ground floor in 2025. David is great to work with from start to finish and has a fantastic team of tradespeople who always deliver a very high standard of work. Would highly recommend them. You can get David on 07960 938621.
    • They do have other lockers where you can drop off parcels, as well as some shops who will take them. If you use the Royal Mail app, or website, you can also arrange for collection of parcels from your house. The service is actually pretty good (and a lot easier than going to the post office). There are a lack of Royal Mail lockers though. Would be good to get some more - perhaps one on North Cross road? They don't need to be outside the Post Office necessarilly.
    • In a similar  vein, are there any charity shops actually taking donations at the moment? ( after the usual post  Christmas chucking out phase, noone would take my things last week, they had too much already).
