I have seen the epetition government website and it was fascinating to see what people really want. My quesiton is: Will the government take them seriously?

Some are repetitions and therefore would never collect the necessary number of signatures, some are obsolete and out of spite or completely non relevant. Could the website be better organised and reject, for example repetitions of the same subject?

Has anybody seen the epetition website?

In essence it is a good idea. Anything taken up would have to have a realistic chance of passing through the commons and lords which is why not everything is taken up obviously. Also just because something has an epetition doesn't make it either a sensible or valid cause either. I for one think the new rule regarding 100,000 signatures automically ensuring presentation to parliament is a bit low in a country of 70 million. All that aside, anything that allows connection to those who run our country has to be worth something.

Yes you are right, but some petitions, from what I have seen, are relevant to small communities and groups and it would be very difficult to get 100,000 signatures. Because there are so many petitions repeated, you will never get the necessary required votes for the parliament to consider If they had a system filtering the petitions and rejecting repeations straight away, perhaps things would be better.

Oh yes.

Please, please richardbach, would you try and get at least 70% of the letters in the right order? And just the odd full stop would help enormously. It's testing my dyslexia to the limit.

Reminds me of Professor

Stanley Unwin.

He says the following:

"A wonderful party! The fly did a buzzy-most around the ceily, Little Boy Blue came left his hormones behind, and stuffed his corn there with his trumpey, and brought his melotrophy. Oh dear, knees up Mother Browny, Huckleberry my fimbold, and he freaked them all out with an enormous mind-blast, which was ... oh dear! And thence to the cool of the early mord, they gathered it there and snoozy-most. But stay cool man, stay cool, won't you."

Epetitions are the refuge of the lazy. What's wrong with writing a letter? What bothers me about them is that there will always be 100,000 that would sign up to something. Some great causes and beliefs, it's true but if the Daily Mail decided to mobilise in favour of say capital punishment or the downgrading of gay rights, there will easily be 100,000 tha will sign it once it goes viral, without them really thinking about what they're signing up to.

    • Miss Robson is the last of the old school independent vets. All the chains are have seriously hiked their prices over the last few years which now makes pet ownership only possible for the wealthy few. Even with pet insurance -( which often excludes items or has ‘deductibles’ ) it is just so much money. A visit with some medication is often £150 - £200. The vets themselves are excellent.
    • Awful. A Google search came up with this, but will he check his office email over Christmas? Maybe worth also contacting local councillor? 'To contact Southern Housing's CEO, Paul Hackett, you can try his direct email, [email protected], or use the general contact email [email protected], as well as calling their main number, 0300 303 1066, for general inquiries or to be directed to the executive level.' Also, from the website: https://www.southernhousing.org.uk/latest-news/2025/contacting-us-over-the-festive-period   'Contacting us about an emergency? If you have an emergency outside of the above times over the festive period, such as severe flooding, an uncontainable leak, gas leak, complete electrical failure or lift breakdown, please call us on 0300 303 1066' I hope it is sorted out soon.
    • Dawson Heights again  2 lifts out of order at ladlands block Christmas Eve so of course the 🛗 will not be repaired tomorrow Christmas Day or Boxing Day or when how do elderly or mothers with children and prams and food and presents get to the floors and with the 10 minutes you get to drop off  to park and not get a Pcn fine and delivery food to relatives who can’t leave their house unbelievable Southern housing does any know email address of Coe of southern housing
    • Sorry but I think it's best if people just check things for themselves when they buy things. In three shops/restaurants (from some years back) I just avoid the places concerned, as in all three  cases I was pretty sure it wasn't a genuine mistake, and in one place  it happened more than once and usually late at night.
