The nearest Spanish tapas bar is Barcelona at the other end of Lordship Lane so it?s nice having a Tapas bar within walking distance.

I couldn?t find an opening date but work is cracking on judging by what we could see when we passed by the building today. I?m sure we don?t have too much longer to wait.

One more for the Franklin's Quarter :) A busy little area now, probably the best bit of East Dulwich.

I have been going to Miss Tapas in Peckham a few times, so I'm hoping Maria's will be as good.

I?ve only ever been to Barcelona for drinks so I can?t comment on the food. Let?s hope Maria?s is better in that case!

In the meantime, would recommend Miss Tapas as upthread for tapas fix - it really is excellent. Hoping Maria's Tortilla is comparable as nice tapas will be a great addition.

Because:

a) They didn't seem to know what they wanted to be, a deli or a restaurant

b) The restaurant wasn't even operating as a restaurant for a long time

c) The guys running it were lovely but seemed to have zero business instinct

d) The deli didn't do that well, I guess there's a limited market for expensive olive oil and custom imported sherry in East Dulwich. Who knew?

For what it's worth I really liked them and often bought stuff but it seemed pretty obvious they were not going to succeed from quite an early stage...

Best Tapas we have ever tasted (and have been to Spain loads of times) is made by a lovely couple Dioni and Jose, who have a pop up called Spanish Particular. They currently run it out of the Brockley Mess. Think they are still away in Spain for the summer, but hope that they will be re-starting again next month. You can google them and I think they have a facebook page

Took family there last weekend, food was excellent, staff extremely helpful, friendly and patient with my overly fussy 10 year old

Would highly recommended it, but don't tell everyone or as a family of 5, we shall e struggling for a table!!!

It says they need a waiter/waitress for a tapas bar.

It also says they're offering full and part time places and the chance to grow with the company and where to send your CV, but if you can't read the Spanish, I wouldn't bother applying :-)
