Police helicopters over camberwell cemetery? (Shooting)

Seems there were a large group of people on Forest Hill Road (near Herne Tavern group of shops)heading in direction of local cemetery and there was a shooting with at least one person hitting the ground. A friend of mine has just let me know about it as he had just got off the bus there at the time.

Yes I was just about to go to the bus stop. Going to work.

It was cordoned off by the police. Gang shooting. I decided to go straight back home. I live on Marmora Road.. the shooting was at the bus stop directly around the corner from it on New Forest Road.

I was going past in a car at about 3.10pm and saw a man lying on the ground and there were no police or ambulances there so it must have literally just happened. I thought perhaps he had collapsed but there were people looking after him so I didn't stop. Up the road there were around 100 people just outside/inside the cemetery looking as if they were about to attend a funeral. I'm guessing the two were linked somehow?

About 20 minutes ago, my husband was walking past Camberwell New Cemetery and said it appeared to a be gang shooting. Two police helicopters circling overhead. It was mayhem on Forest Hill Road, near the French Cafe - police with machine guns. Looks like it was some kind of gang funeral and someone opened fire. Some very dodgy looking characters - and those are just the women. Multiple road and air ambulances in peckham park. Helicopter above. Guy at scene says 3 dead and several injured.

All unsubstantiated of course. Terrible news for the families.

I heard this as I left at about 11.30 and yet when I went to (do a funeral at) Lambeth Crematorium, that crematorium had police helicopters circling as well and yet there weren't any young people being cremated there today. No idea what they were doing there as well. But indeed I agree, a sad day for the families and friends involved.

    • I pay £4,500.00 service charge for my one bedroom property on Sydenham Hill in the area of Bromley court and attleborough court. What are the Southwark council doing with our money. The grass needs cutting and the weeds need clearing from paths, walkways and walls. It use to look well manicured,  now it’s a wreck. I should have a reduction in my service charge as I’m paying towards something that is not being done .
    • Following up on my post of May 12, Leon of Electrical Initative arrived yesterday and fitted my new consumer unit. He did an extremely thorough job, not rushing anything, which I find very reassuring. So often I get a repair job where the impatient workers seem to be in a tearing hurry to finish up, move their parked van so they won't get a ticket, get to the next job, and collect their money. Not Leon. After about two hours of careful work and tests, made all the more challenging by his having to work in a cramped space under the stairs, I now have an up-to-date consumer unit installed, one that's up to code with the latest regulations. He also found an extra 20 mins to fit a new bathroom light for me, and adjusted the settings for me too. Two jobs on a single call, as he'd promised he would - what more could you want? I whole-heartedly recommend this honest and trustworthy trader to anyone who needs electrical work done in SE London.
    • Not looking quite how it did before GALA turned up, I'll be very interested to know what they can do to "reinstate" it & how long it will take to recover. And how they're going to remove all the litter - there'll be plenty of fag butts, filter tips, cable ties, bottle tops, ring pulls and god knows what else firmly stuck in that mud...
    • I just had my trusty old push bike stolen. I am looking to replace it with another old bike, with no particular value but still in working order to get me from A to B. Please let me know if you are looking to give away or sell such an item.
