I'm perfectly calm thanks, and I was referring to the veiled criticism of the police in the opening post. Also, if you were intending to jest, there are plenty of 'emotions' available to signify that, which is the usual way on sites like this.

You know Fizzy, you don't have to read what people write or the opinions they express. Also, Louisa isn't someone who's generally known the to hold back when she has an opinion to express, and some of what she writes can be controversial. I'm not doubting that the incident happened, or that she helpfully intervened to help the other person, only her reference to a 'bobby' with the suggested implication that he/she could have helped he/she had not been ticketing a parked car. I just sounded a bit 'tabloid' for me, and I'm entitled to my opinion and also to state it.

And I'm sorry too Frisco, my mistake for thinking that reading what people write was a vital point of the forum! I don't contribute often but I do read a lot of what goes on here and just sometimes I get the feeling that things start to get a bit too serious/petty. No offence intended, it's just my opinion....but hey you don't have to read it!! :))

I expect it was a traffic warden issuing the ticket, I believe police don't issue tickets unless a vehicle's parked on a red route or causing an obstruction.

And nice one for getting involved Louisa, in incidents like that people tend to think "well if they're not helping then I won't" which is odd.

"Sorry, from now on if I want to say anything light hearted, I'll follow it with a Just so as not to upset your sensitivities."

That's the spirit, not everyone is a mainstay of the site or such a prolific poster here as you, and if you don't observe the accepted netiquette how will the, sadly, infrequent posters like Fizzy know you're not being "a bit too serious/petty". >:D<

If it were a police officer then he should have seen what was going on. It is - or was - part of their training to have 360 degree vision. In other words, to be aware of the full picture - and it's not as if Goose Green is very big. But biting dogs, elderly ladies and a crowd are Trouble with a capital T; and a traffic ticket is cash for the council (good boy) and targets met (very good boy).

    • Which is exactly why Rayner had to go - don't be the sleaze attack dog and then not keep your own house in order - the really shocking fact is she didn't go the moment this came to light because she knew what advice, and the advice to seek proper tax expertise that was given to her in writing by the very people she was trying to throw under the bus - she clearly thought she might be able to spin her way out of it. When you look at the facts, the advice she was given and when and her behaviour in the last few days it has been scandalous and just shows the contempt for the public intelligence some politicians have. Interesting to see a very unscientific vox pop on BBC News last night but a lot of her own constituents seem to want rid of her as well and to be honest if you have to lose your cabinet role for this breach of the rules then you should probably lose your seat too. That is the hypocrisy here and why a lot of people don't like politicians because they're all the same.
    • Hi all, I’m after a stereo amp in working condition. Not necessarily anything fancy, as long as it works. Thanks
    • You are missing my point, there are a few here who are rabidly anti Labour.  And have lost sight of the many scandals associated with their party.  I've not made excuses for Rayner, rather I am inferring that it is hypocritical to go on about one of the major parties whilst ignoring your own dirty washing.   You are not making sense.  I expect half the country likes a drink and a sizeable number likes a vape.  What is your point?
    • If you read the article posted above, it is all very carefully worded. However I've found this: https://uknip.co.uk/news/uk/uk-news/peckham-rye-park-attack-man-seriously-injured-august-2025/
