Dead black cat on Pavement Underhill Rd

For the attention of any black cat owners Underhill Road/local area.

Having just driven down Underhill Road I noticed a dead black cat on the pavement at the top of the hill opposite the cemetery/near the new flats with the see through curtains.

Certainly not a nice sight but thought I'd make any cat owners in the area aware.

Ideally you'd contact Southwark Council via 020 7525 2000 and they'll come and remove it.

No James -better to wait a bit otherwise the council picks up the body and the owners never get to find out what happened to their pet.

all council wardens are supposed to keep a record of any dead pets they pick up so that if the owners ring up, they can let you know if they did indeed find your deceased pet

but would they then scan the cat to see if it's microchipped?

I don't think they scan for microchips and they are not easy to get a hold of to find out if they have found any dead cats matching your pets description. I speak from experience. The street cleaners I talked to said that if they found a dead cat they would just call for another specialised team but they weren't aware of any sort of record being kept of these animals.

Its very annoying as I think the least they could do is scan the animal so its owners can be contacted via the microchip information. That is the point of having it afterall!

Agreed, they should have to scan any dead animals, should be the law, how much would a scanner cost :'(

and why not get the council workers to hold a minutes silence or a candelit vigil for the unknown cat ? or maybe a memorial fountain on the Rye ?

or maybe someone could collect the cat and take it to a vets to see if it is microchipped. i did that when a cat was run over by a car near my house, they scanned it but unfortunately no chip was found

Lisa from bow wow meow did that recently with a cat that had been run over, nice of her, if it were my cat, I would want to know.

Where do they put the chips? In the ears? Couldn't they just take the ears?
