"Strauss has got to try to bring the team back together again and he'll have to sit down with Kevin Pietersen to see whether he'll buy into that.

"Every player has to toe the line and if it's to the detriment of the team then that player has to go. I don't care how good he is, you're not bigger than the game."

Spot on!

Oh GOODIE, I'm glad someone's mentioned cricket. Just to put my bat in, I was wondering where the populus will be Ashes (and WI's but they don't really count anymore, which sincerely is a shame) watching this summer.

I'll be CPT'ing if I can persuade the powers that be to open earlier than 5pm weekdays. If not I'm not really sure.

......and I damn well hope we can buck our ideas up before the Great Summer War begins!

When calculating the ODI rankings over the last 6 months the ICC must have been getting their sums wrong. But I see they have now corrected the problem and all is back as it should be:

1st - South Africa

2nd* - Australia

3rd ? Some other country that probably also plays cricket.

*Or 1st loser

    • Hello, Does anyone know of any climbing, basketball or badminton clubs that are local to Peckham, East Dulwich? My son’s weekends are full of football and rugby training but I’m struggling to keep him busy (off a screen!) on week evenings. I’ve looked into the London Community boxing but sessions sadly start at 4.30 and he’s not back from school until 5.  Any recommendations gratefully received!
    • Be careful out there  !   I got a ticket for 1 minute over  on Lordship Lane   ---- with a blue badge , on a single yellow ...    I returned at 4.03pm to find the ticket -- he waited till 4.01pm with ticket and then scarpered  Naturally i appealed it and this was the response   We refer to the informal challenge you have made against the issue of the Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) JK17113680 You were parked on a single yellow line with one yellow kerb marking. There is a sign at the location advising that no loading is permitted Monday-Friday, 7 am to 10 am, and then 4 pm to 7 pm. Loading is permitted for a maximum of 40 minutes between 10 am and 4 pm, and then again after 7 pm. You were observed parked at 4:01 pm. and therefore issued a PCN for parking at a time when the rule applies. The purpose of this rule is to improve traffic flow and safety at all times. This contravention is immediately enforceable, and therefore, a PCN can be issued straight away as no observation period is needed. This rule applies to disabled badge holders, too; it is not a situation where you may use your disabled badge. Although your Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) was correctly given, we have cancelled it on this occasion, as a gesture of goodwill. Please note that this cancellation does not set a precedent for other PCNs issued in the future under similar circumstances, as each case is dealt with on its own merits. Yours sincerely Anita Hayler Southwark Parking
    • Closed this evening at 7pm (Tuesday). Perhaps worth ringing first to check if it’s open?
    • Thanks for the recommendation. So pleased I found Andy the plumber! After being let down by others, he assessed remotely, ordered part and got everything sorted in no time. Really grateful — thank you! Highly recommend
