I had one of the worst meals of my life there. I can't even begin to describe how terrible it was. I love Thai food, and this was an absolute abomination.

To be fair, it was on New Year's Day, it was quite a few years back, virtually nowhere else on Lordship Lane was open, many people had therefore ended up at Sema Thai, and the staff seemed rather overwhelmed.

However, that doesn't excuse the pitiful plates of crap we received after a very, very, very long wait.

We have never been back since :(

If I were you I'd get on a 176 and go up to Chinatown- the food there is 'clean' and the atmos is great at New Year....

Er, yeah... Chinatown is renowned for impeccable hygiene. No rats, mice or cockroaches in those places. No way.

Lux Thai- beyond dreadful

Thai Corner- the usual bog standard.....but have had 2 deliveries that have been inedible about a year ago so no more

It's out of ED (just) so I'm probably not allowed to mention it but I've had a number of deliveries from the newish Matoom in Forest Hill and found it fresh, tasty and well above the normal standard. I kinda don't want to advertise it in case it goes down hill!

Would love for Mr L pick up standards but I don't feel hugely optimistic.

And yeah, I agree there's not a lot clean about Chinatown!

Thanks.

Shame they're still serving the same old rubbish. Prawns/beef/chicken in a choice of the familiar, grim-sounding gloopy sauces.

You'd have thought there would be some way they could change the website name to something more memorable - like 148 Chinese, for example, or 148 Chinese SE22.

At present if you put 148 Chinese into Google, nothing relevant comes up.

I'll give the food a try (again) in the hope that things might have improved since we last ate there ....

That?s a free name, there would be a fee for a more professional domain.

sarahtrinh.wixsite.com is an htpps: secure site probably the name of the person who created the site.

I would suspect there is a more appropriate Domain Name yet to be published that will point to the secure site.

in fact http://www.148chinese.com does point to the site.

    • https://www.assistancedogs.org.uk/information-hub/assistance-dogs-emotional-support-dogs-and-therapy-dogs/   hello   i’d be interested to understand if anyone.has experience of Assistance Dogs especially for autistic children of different ages for emotional support and therapy   There was a prior thread on this topic on EDF 10 hrs ago but it had limited experiences and there was a (claimed) change in UK legislation in 2019. Whilst the industry appears unregulated/unlicensed, there are several providers (approx 15, perhaps more) who claim to have fully trained dogs or say that they can help families to train a puppy/young dog over the 18-24 months.  The latter obviously comes with a need for strong commitment to the challenge. Costs for a fully trained assistance dog are quoted at £13-15k albeit they claim £23k total cost to train the dog. On the one hand, this could potentially be a useful solution for some families if such a dog was truly trained as their websites claim and such a dog was accepted in public places and schools etc… On the other hand, I don’t think that I’ve ever seen an assistance dog of this type or in this context (only for a blind or partially sighted person) and hence a real risk of fraud or exploitation! The SEN challenge for families coupled with limited resources in schools or from local authorities or the NHS as well as the extremely challenging experience of many families with schools offering little or no support or making the situation worse leaves a big risk of lots of different types of fraud and or exploitation in this area.
    • Hi there  We live on Woodwarde Road backing on to Alleyns Top Field.  Our cat Gigi has gone missing — it’s been about 24 hours now. She is a cream Bengal. Could you please check sheds, garages, or anywhere she might have got stuck please? And if you could keep an eye out or share on any local groups/forums, we’d really appreciate it. Photo attached.   Thanks so much! My name is Jeff on 07956 910068.
    • Colin.    One for the old school.   Just saying.
