I ran off to the bus stop to meet my daughter and her friends at the Temple Bar in Walworth Road, saw Jah, felt a bit cold, so kindly accepted Mr Lush's offer to walk me home!

Drank some brandy with said Jah, chatted even more sh!t than I had at the Dog, and then after waving the merry Mr Lush off, collapsed in my bed. Woke up this morning feeling rather delicate, so am glad I never managed to make it to the Temple Bar!

'Tis indeed the lovely Kalamity who doesn't work in that church.

Yes Buggie, it always slips by soo quickly, but great to see everyone and so many new faces.

SteveT, that's just the best description I've ever read of forum drinks...perfect.

"...he reminded me of a youthful Ian Hislop from the 'Have I got news 4u'."! But like you say you did see me all the way across the room and you probably still had chlorine in your eyes from your swim.

Good to meet people again, I'm with you Keef, I didn't realise some of these people were there, I must walk around a bit more next time.

And agree about the staff coming across as rude, and from the start of the evening every order seemed to be met with a sigh and a look that said "do you lot have to keep ordering drinks?".

Anyway it was a goodnight, nice one Georgia for arranging it, and I look forward to the next one.

Am croaking nicely this morning. Good to meet everybody and glad I fell off the wagon last night with some style I like to think, I have memory of Guiness with a Baileys chaser before leaving The Dog.

As Mockney noted a group of us ended up in the Oriwisu Spot, its essentialy an African pub, run by Africans for Africans. It took seconds for them to welcome 5 strangers into their pub and just minutes before pool playing and interesting conversation had started. Great place, great people.

This followed by Wii bowling - sorry Sean, Piers popped my cherry on that one!

Hello, I am posting on behalf of my brother Lucas (xanthe) who had a car accident last night apparently on his way to your forum drinks in Dulwich, his car was completely totalled but thankfully he escaped with only minor injurys but quite bad whiplash and has been kept in hospital overnight for observation, his car was hit by a drunk driver apparently but obviously reports are still confused as it has only just happened, he asked me to post this message for him on his behalf, hope i've done it right.

Rhona

Well, I think I know who that particular message is meant for, (I think he might have meant you to PM it) but anyway, what an awful thing to have happened, please send him our best wishes and thoughts and Rhona it was really sweet of you to take the effort to, in what must be a stressful time,to let us know.

Guys,

Sorry I didn't make it...like I was missed :-( All this training, and stapying off the sauce was my reason for staying away, and knowing i was due a long run today. Mark my words though, I'll be there for the April one!

Hope you all had a good time

So, no one doing it again this eve then? ah well I shall do it for ya all then :p

Chav my dear remember Feb also has an extra day this year ;-)

Yes was certainly good to meet ya all last night, and compared to the ppl I'd been wiv all day you lot were normal :o hehe

Absolutely fab night. Lovely to meet so many friendly faces during the so-called gloomy month of Jan. Although I have to agree that the barstaff had an cool attitude to us must admit it didn't spoil my time and I rather think that not having a space reserved for us made for some better mingling. I say "standing up is the new sitting down"

    • I completely agree with you - and last night was really terrible where I am. Between midnight and 1am was the worst, where it genuinely felt like a war zone. I had to run out of my house to try and stop a grown man setting them off in open space right by our front doors. In response he went to throw a half lit one at me and then seemed to think better of it. I am so sad at how bad the situation has got here and how selfish people are. Fireworks are bad for the environment and for pets and wildlife, as well as just being unnecessary noise for people too. I have sent an email today to Helen Hayes, which I have done previously on this issue. Would advise anyone to write to your MP to do the same, and to ask them to engage with the debates scheduled for 19 Jan.
    • And they started long before midnight!
    • First mate - I wondered if I was imagining things at 4.45 this morning . Apparently not .
    • The Dutch are addicted to New Year fireworks and spent €130million this year on them. However,  sales to individuals will be banned as from this year and celebrations will be organised by local and city councils. I have Dutch friends and for them, this can’t come soon enough. However, at least there it’s concentrated  on one night. Here, it’s never ending, any excuse to make a noise is seized upon with gusto. In addition to the annual celebrations, add birthdays, weddings, engagements, divorces, christenings, BBQs, etc etc. I dare say you can funerals to that list as well. Yesterday it started mid-afternoon and just carried on until the early hours. In the past, I’ve been woken up at 4am. Anyyone who doesn’t like it can go hang and you can ignore completely the  effects on people’s animals and wildlife. Don’t hold your breath about anything being done here, however.
