Foxes - food being left for them

Has anyone seen the lady laying down fox food (eggs and cat food) every night around the Avondale rise / Copleston Road area?

It smells awful and is attracting foxes who take the eggs, smash them in Gardens and then soil cat food which is being left everywhere. I have asked her to stop doing it but please say so if you are seeing this too - it is attracting massive foxes to the area who are making horrible smelly mess everywhere, destroying gardens and intimidating people on the street.

Living in an Urban area It is a privilege to see these beautiful creatures.

I too feed the Foxes. Mostly when they are about late at night.

They wait outside my house for me to home late at night and sometimes follow me up my road

when they know I have food. They like spicy Hot chicken wings. They do not like Spare Ribs.

They are very timid but they seem to recognise me.

They are scared of cats and pose very little threat to your pets.

There is a lot more Domestic Dog Poo around than Fox Poo. Fox poo is a lot smaller.

In Winter Foxes will catch and eat mice. In summer they eat lots of insects like crickets, beetles and caterpillars as well as frogs

Only a quarter of foxes live to be two years old, 12% to three years, 6% to four years, and very few make it beyond six years. Many are killed in road traffic accidents.

People need to be a lot more tolerant to our Foxes.

I love spare ribs. Don't mind if they're pre-eaten, don't worry just leave them on the pavement I'll sort them for ya.

Yeah and the rest. Last year I practically had to repopulate SE22 on my own. I got 99 problems, ungrateful little biters every one of 'em.

?Intimidating people on the street? - do I really need to explain why I think they?re trying to get a raise from everyone.

Well, it seemed a perfectly normal post to me.

As do their previous posts on here, so I also don't understand your comment"some people never learn."

But maybe I'm just naive.

Since 2015 they?ve only engaged in selling and buying on the forum. Then out of nowhere comes a thread about a elderly person feeding wild animals, with the line ?intimidating people?, in reference to a small defenceless animal. I mean, where do I even begin to explain how ridiculously exaggerated and sensationalist this is? When did you last see a small emaciated Fox cornering a person? A very bizarre thread from someone with little posting history outside of the buyer/seller part of the forum. It is quite clearly trolling, and pretty poor form trolling at best.

Let?s hope you?re never hungry then. People with no empathy make me sick.

It's a FOX!!, which has many diseases.

Why don't you bring one home with you next time you see one then you can feed it everyday whilst your children play with it.

Ridiculous!!

Before you say it, this is just my opinion, which doesn't mean I'm a troll.

Didn?t suggest you were a troll. Just a ignorant human being who lacks empathy for other species we share this planet with. Let?s not forget, they only come to urban areas because we humans hunted them out of the countryside, and we leave our crap strewn out on the shared spaces we call streets, which is a breeding ground for any hungry animal. Are you suggesting they don?t have a right to live like the rest of us do?

And in answer to your first stupid point, we do feed rats actually. Because we create the wasteful environment for them to thrive in.

That?s debatable 😊

We have a large male that comes over the fence, more regularly these last few weeks. At first we thought he was looking for another den and because there's no overgrown areas nearby it didn't occur to me he was coming over to us on his recce route. So then I discovered that a bottom shed panel had been ripped away causing a lot of damage to one corner and given the strength needed, I'm pretty sure of the size of animal to do this.

He's a beautiful, healthy animal trying to make it in a challenging urban habitat but I won't be feeding him. Instead I've been going out making a lot of noise to make him unwelcome. I've bodged the shed panel but assume he'll try again and maybe at that point my patience will wear a bit thinner although I have no intention of hurting him - even if I could.

It would seem that Louisa/Loutwo's time spent away from the forum has not aided the bitter, ignorant and twisted views she seems to still hold.

You only joined the forum in Feb 2019 You have 77 posts 73 for the 2 Word games threads.

What knowledge of Louisa/Loutwo's historic postings do you have. ??

Are you qualified to make such comments about her.

Foxy you?ve possibly uncovered yet another previous forum member, who held a poor opinion of me and is taking this opportunity to goad me. As Sue is trying to do above. I am not willing to feed their trolling. And I advise you not to either.

    • There is no equivalence between One Dulwich purporting to be a local organisation speaking for local people, and actually properly constituted organisations such as The Dulwich Society. A 3 -second google search reveals the openly published names of the trustees of Dulwich Society, so I can make my own mind up as to whether these individuals are coming at local issues with a particular slant. I can read minutes of their meetings online, and whilst I might not agree with their every position, I can have confidence that they are an open and fundamentally democratic institution. There is absolutely nothing similar in terms of publicly accountable information to be found about One Dulwich - no idea of who is behind it, who pays for it ( it is clearly expensive), and on what basis they make their decisions.  Given the Police involvement in the intimidation of people with a public pro-LTN view ( for which there is no equivalence in terms of severity of any incident for those with an anti-LTN point of view), I can fully understand why, for Dulwich Society's traffic sub- committee only, they want a bit of online anonymity. I also find it slightly disturbing that when The Dulwich Society current leadership asked the 'grouping' pushing for changes within it for a meeting to discuss their concerns, they refused it. Given the recent experiences of organisations such as The National Trust, the question can be asked - is something similar going on here?
    • I’ll post it to the DVLA if i don’t find the owner by midweek.
    • The most recent one did, despite the council making it very difficult for anyone to object (which interestingly they were forced to change for the CPZ consultation and look how that went for them). I will dig out the responses for you when I have more time so you can enlighten yourself.   Ha ha...the language used by councils when they see the results of a consultation and need an out to ignore the views of locals...;-) Did you not notice how this only became a thing once the consultation had been run....one wonders why!? Earl you can bluster all you like but you cannot ignore the fact the council closed the junction to emergency services and put lives at risk and resisted all calls (from the emergency services) to open it for them. Surely you can't defend that  or are you willingly turning a blind eye to that too? Ha ha, which kind of begs the question then why so many of you get so vexed by One Dulwich? Surely you could compartmentalise their work if the above was true? I suspect it has a lot to do with the accountability that they are forcing and the fact some don't like it.
    • I believe around 57% of the 5,538 people who were part of the self selecting sample making up the original consultation, opposed the LTN. So just over 3,000 people. This was around 3 years ago now. I think there’s something like 40,000+ living across se22 and SE21 🤷‍♂️  The LTN is a minority interest at best. Whilst it’s an obsession for a small number on the transport thread who strongly oppose it, I suspect most locals quietly approve of the improvements made to that junction. …and we still haven’t heard who has supposedly been pressurising the emergency services and how (are we seriously going with the far left / the commies)? Is anyone willing to stand up and support the 'One' claim that people are partially covering their plates and driving through the filters due to inadequate signage? Again, it all sounds a little ridiculous / desperate. Feels like it may be time for them to start coming to terms with the changes.
