Just sharing my experience of crazy pricing structure at Dulwich Picture House. I took my toddler Son to watch the Peppa Pig film there and was shocked that for the two of us it cost +?22. They have children priced at ?8.30 and adults at ?14.50! How on earth can they justify ?14.50 for an adult to accompany a child to watch Peppa Pig? This was the first time I'd taken him to a cinema and my first trip to DPH which was a lovely environment, but is this standard practice for children's film to charge so much? Is it cheaper to go to a standard multiplex?

Hi - how do you go about buying the ?2.50 Kids Club tickets for a Saturday morning?

When I look on the Picture House web site it's showing standard pricing for 10am on Saturday morning

@El Presidente - you're missing the point of the original post. I paid the entry fee, I was at the cinema with my Son. I was enquiring if there were cheaper alternatives locally, as the fee for an adult to accompany a child for what is a toddlers film is excessive. Maybe unless you have constructive comments don't reply. It's not complicated.

It is worth noting that whilst Picture House prices can be high, for some showings, there are numbers of cheaper options - Mondays are close to half price, Thursdays cheap for pensioners and all prices are reduced for 'members' - including a number of free seats to use through your membership year at will. There are also special reduced price showings for e.g people with babies, children etc. Having a cinema again in Lordship Lane I take as a bonus, and, whilst Peckham Plex is definitely cheaper, it is not, in my experience as comfortable and clean. It is a choice for us (where before there was none). As with all things, caveat emptor, at least as regards checking comparative prices, is a reasonable watchword. I am lucky that I can normally choose, within reason, when to go to see films, and thus choose my (economic) moment.

I have no interest (other than being a 'founder' member of the ED Picture House).

If you use smart phone technology many of these cinema chains offer special BOGOF deals via meerkat insurance, two for ?7 at odeon for example as a reward offer, special Tuesday showings for half price. I?ve also noticed some of the VUE cinemas charge 3.99 all day every day, which is a bargain. You can easily find these bargains, but in a neighbourhood like ED where premium chains such as Picturehouse setup shop, they are obviously going to try and charge more for the basic tickets.

Louisa.

@penguin68 @minitonka I agree, as mentioned in my original post it was my first time at EDPH and I thought it was a really nice place - clean, friendly, with a good food choice which I didn't expect (I brought sandwiches for my lad but he'd have loved the mac&cheese) it was just the cost of an adult ticket for a kids show. I'm sure I'll return, we don't go the cinema much so it was a nice treat, and I'll also check out peckplex at some point too, love a cheap dive lol.

    • Warning to parents using the playground in Dulwich Park. My daughter and her friends found a bag of ‘crunchy powder’ in the children’s playground this morning around 11ish. They thought it was ‘popping candy’ and all tried some before seen with it. Request to parents using the playground - if you see plastics bags with suspect looking contents or powder on the floor in the playground or park: pick it up and throw it in the bin. Don’t walk past and think someone else will deal with it. The next person to walk by might be a child who could pick it up not understanding what it could be. Hopefully our daughter and her friends will be ok and it’s a lucky escape. But please be aware in case anyone else’s child may have found it before them.
    • I’m looking for some ply sheets, ideally 9mm or 12mm. It doesn’t have to look good. As long as it’s not rotten it’ll be fine. I’d like bigger sheets, but I’m open to whatever anyone’s got. If you can help, drop me a DM.  Cheers
    • the only known name is from that poster in the window where it says to email [email protected]. I thought that website might shed some light on who is creating the posters I hope whoever was attacked is doing ok, but agree there is something very off/vigilante-ish about all of this
    • Sorry to be dim, but where has that link come from and why is it relevant to this thread? I'm not doubting you, just wondering if I've missed something above!
