Quids is being a bit harsh. It's been a bit of a weird one this year, Winter finished this monday, spring is normally pretty fabulous followed by a slightly grey but warm summer with the odd heat wave whereupon EVERYONE goes to London's amazing parks in a bid to see who can get the most disturbing sunburn and get botchelism from raw/burnt sausages on barbecues.

Seriously though London's climate is pretty good, it's in the high eighties (for you non-metric types) with beautiful blue skies and salmon skin today.

Like many U.K qualifications 'Summer' has been "dumbed down"

So anywhere between May- August technically counts, though the quality has become difficult to define

I hope this helps

Mmmm Salmon skin...

Summer actually doesnt sound too bad. Iowa summers are consistently hot (85-100) with at least one week hovering around the 105+ mark. With stifiling humidity. Combined with the American tendency toward corpulence, it becomes several months of frizzy, sweaty, hot mess.

I don't think you should try and beat anything to death with cornflakes. Anything at all. Just put it out of your head.

Tuna's pretty good in cans and with mayonnaise. The fresh stuff, real fish, is exceedingly disappointing. Chewy and monotonous, and you can't get it in a sock. However, the tin can generate a pretty effective injury both up close and at a distance. Only add mayonnaise if you want to avoid a 'blood' wound.

Summer's great in the UK. It's the same as winter - about 15 to 17 centigrade (much better than German fahrenheit setting zero against some pathetic concoction of ammonium chloride) and it's grey.

They joy is in the people. Brits are really fun, especially in summer. Always a smile and a pat on the bum.

    • Hello, I'm from Ireland and would love my children to be able to know the language - I can speak it but I'm not so good at teaching it. If there's anyone local who used to teach Irish at primary school (preferably Connemara Irish) and who'd like to tutor 3 boys aged 7-10 for an hour or two a week please do let me know. Thanks, Sarah
