Calling all dog owners using Peckham Rye park to walk their dogs.

The darling little dog that I walk for my friend was subjected to an unprovoked attack today in the Park.

The dog responsible was a blue staffordshire called Blue and his owner has another staffordshire - either brindle or brown - I don't remember.

The dog owner was lax in responding to the situation where Blue had picked up my friend's dog in his mouth and was about to shake him. The brown/brindle dog was joining in the "game" but did not attack my friend's dog.

I rushed him straight over to the Neighbourhood Vet Centre and he was treated immediately. Turns out he has (at least) a punctured lung and broken ribs, he's in immense pain and in shock and he may need surgery to repair his diaphragm.

I didn't hang around to say anything to Blue's owner, as I just wanted to get my friend's dog, Morph, seen immediately.

However, when at the vet, the vet herself said her dog was nearly attacked by this very same dog, BLUE, only yesterday.

Please be very, very alert and keep your dogs with you on a lead if you see these dogs out in the park whilst you're there. The dog is not vicious per se, but clearly the owner was either unconcerned or has no idea how to control his dogs.

This happened completely unexpectedly - we were just playing with the ball and our dog. My 6 year old son witnessed this attack and Morph is his best friend - so you can imagine how distressed he was by the whole incident.

Morph is now spending the night in emergency care :( PLEASE DON'T LET YOUR DOG BE A VICTIM OF BLUE TOO.

Trish /Fuzzyboots

Oh no :( Morph is tiny! I hope he's going to be alright, can you give a description of the owner please? I walk everyday with my small dogs and my friends 2 small dogs also where abouts in the park did it happen? Good luck little Morph xxx

Bonniebird- I think morph will be ok. The next couple hours or so will tell :( he is such a little poppet.

The dogs owner is a black guy - possibly late 20's /early 30's.The dog, Blue, had a broad pink collar her, I think.

It was terrifying - he weighs under 3 kg and he didn't stand a chance of defending himself. It happened on the Corner coming out on to the large patch of grass opposite the boys school.

[email protected] Please email the safer neighbourhood team address to the left. And also report this to the police as well although 999 maybe now inappropriate.

So sorry to read this - just awful. Glad the Neighbourhood vets are there!

I'm devastated to say that darling little Morph just died of his injuries sustained by the attack he received today from Blue, the blue Staffordshire terrier.

PLEASE keep vigilant for this now killer dog and keep your dogs out of harms way. Don't let your dog be the next needless victim.

Might be worth having a chat with Mark Newell, the head warden at the park too. Maybe a chat with the owner from him might help. It sounds as though this dog perhaps needs a muzzle if it's off the leash.

You can email Mark at [email protected]

And I hope Morph has a speedy recovery.....sounds as though it could have ended far worse.

Oh I am so sorry to read that....just posted on the other thread wishing Morph well.....

Please let Mark Newell the park warden know. I've put his contact email on the other thread but will pm you his number. It can not be that a dog is allowed to put other people's dogs in danger like this. Someone needs to have a chat with the owner of this other dog and asap.

oh gosh I am so sorry to hear this = I must have missed this by 10 minutes leaving with my own dog at the gate oppo the boys school. It is so frustrating that some dog owners are so irresponsible with the vast majority kind and considerate. It seems positively daft that the police will not get involved unless people are the victims. I cannot imagine how your poor child is feeling.

Will keep eyes peeled and yes, maybe Mark the warden could be alerted to this kind of thing

I had to rush him straight to the vet. Otherwise I would have got the details. Not telling my kids till tomorrow- they will be just as devastated.

I don't know how his mum will cope - he was her precious boy and the light of her life.

I am so sick and helpless in the face of these dickheads who own bull breeds and can't handle them. What is to be done? I'm so sorry to hear about this. I have a scar on my left calf when a bull breed bit me when I was out running in Burgess Park. The owners were a middle aged couple, do not the usual goon that own this type of dog. Pisses me off.

    • OMFG is it possible for the council to do anything without a bunch of armchair experts moaning about it? The library refurb is great news, as it's lovely but completely shagged out - the toilets don't even work reliably. Other libraries in the area will be open longer house during the closure. July is a rubbish time to begin a refurb because it's just before the entire construction sector goes on summer holiday, and it would mean delaying the work another 8 months.

Worth contacting her with views on ammendments to the original license. I am fairly sure she won't grant any amendments, but just in case.....
    • Second time Aria has completed a plumbing job for me and both times he’s been polite. Communicative, kept to time and completed the job. He’s very helpful and tidy as well. First job was ball valve in water tank, not easy at all. He and his team were fantastic. This time kitchen tap cylinders replaced and tap tightened.  Much appreciated, Aria thank you.
    • Thought others may be interested to help a local community centre help others.    My bank account offers roundup and it’s been growing all year. As well as treating myself or putting it towards a train ticket to see my family I’ve made a donation to the Albrighton. They can use donations at any time but I hope my donation will go towards the Christmas hampers.    Can you support them so they can provide Christmas hampers?   https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/albrightoncommunityfridge?utm_id=1&utm_term=M22JKQb6W   A donation of £50 will pay for a hamper to feed a family over this Christmas period. A donation of £30 will pay for a hamper to feed someone living on their own over the Christmas period.
