On the upside thousands and thousands of people have made great memories of amazing days in London?s beautiful parks listening to music that they love with friends and family

I reckon that?s a good thing (and that almost always reasonable steps are taken to consider local people, but you can?t please all the people all the time)

How?s that ?evident??

Because everyone in the immediate vicinity of the rye is still ravaged and could never accept inevitable reality?

You?re right on the rye i assume?

Ah right, that?s ok then. As long as you had fun, who cares about the neighbours.

And pk, I don?t live directly next to the Rye no, but I can be empathetic towards people who have concerns. Ever heard of that word empathy? I know it?s a swear word to most in the 21st century.

Louisa.

That?s really pathetic

Alas I can't say I canvassed every house for opinion (perhaps next year) - but as a very sociable bit of street with a lot a neighbours who know, chat and socialise with each other on a day to day basis - I can report that nobody I know was RAVAGED. A few said they wished they'd got tickets. A few said they wished they were younger, or didn't have young kids, so they could have got tickets. Some went out for the day and did something else. Some were a bit grumbly but ended up at "ah well" and moved on. A few said 'our kids are going, hope it's good'. They're generally an empathetic lot, I expect they simply extended some of that empathy in the general direction of the park for a day or two. You should give it a go.

However.. I will be sure to let them all know that someone who doesn't even live nearby was determined to get in a tiresome stew about it on their behalf - for internet kicks.

Good points Nigello although I hope that we do not go the way of other boroughs in terms of the volume of events in future (no pun intended).

Ravaged! Depressing! Terrible!

Classic stuff. Straight out the Daily Mail!

The individuals problem's are about a lot more than a tame music festival happening 2 days out of 365 with a finishing time of 10pm, they are with the world and life itself. Whilst quite sad, it is also a source of amusement.

Dont have too much audio, lighting or indeed fun, or else there'll be a thread about you on this forum come Monday morning.

    • But I don't think that was what you meant, was it? But he can hardly be held responsible for what somebody else did! Just discovered I forgot to post the above  last night, and now it's overtaken by long posts.  I don't have sufficient knowledge  to counter some of what has been said above, some of which appears to be opinion rather than facts, so it would be pointless for me to say anything else.
    • I am sure our lovely Evri delivery team, who do a firkin hard job, take the time between drops to read the East Dulwich Forum 🤫
    • For every person like OP that moans their doorbell was rung and there was a knock on the door, there's someone else moaning that they didn't hear the delivery drivers. If you've ever done delivery work you'll know that loads of people's bells don't work. The delivery drivers probably goes to a hundred doors a day: press bell, knock door, drop package, move on. If you don't like delivery drivers, insist on delivery by Royal Mail where the workers have wages and a union - or just stop ordering shit online that's artificially cheap. But most of us (me included) don't want that
    • If someone comes to my house and bangs my door and slams my gate, I'd speak to them about it nicely and ask if they would please not do that. And then subsequently less nicely if they keep doing it, ending in reporting them.  We don't slam doors at home and I don't put up with that either. I can see us moving to a culture where we bribe drivers to be nice by tipping them, but we shouldn't have to. It's not necessary - does not matter if they are on minimum wage or not, or if society means that delivery services are outsourced or whatever reason anyone would like to concoct.
