Christmas Tree Disposal

Does anybody know the correct way to dispose of old Christmas trees in the area? Are there borough-provided services?

The council will take them with your garden waste recycling, or you can take them yourself to designated sites. There's more info on the Southwark Council website.

There was a scheme at Kew Gardens where if you took your old christmas tree there for shredding you got free entry to the gardens.

We usually end the festive season by dragging the tree to a big tree recycling skip in Peckham Rye Park-does anyone know if this is available this year? Would hate to miss out on the great tree drag!

I can report a successful incursion into the Lambeth dump (Tritton Rd I think) in West Dulwich yesterday - as the forum tipoff suggested, no ID checks were done, and the tree and an ironing board were successfully 'dumped'. Go forth East Dulwich and push the border West....

My tree was collected from the front of my place this morning with our usual rubbish. If you have kerbside garden waste collection, they will just take it on your normal day. Couldn't be easier!

We dragged our tree to the Rye there's a big pile . Think council should do a twelth night bonfire and fireworks

I saw one dumped outside a house the other day with the lights still draped around - either a forgetful owner or a sad sign of our times!

What do you guys think about this.

My neighbour has a back garden but not a front. We own the front garden. I came out of the house this morning and was greated to his christmas tree dumped over my flower beds. No note asking if it was okay to leave it there for collection, nothing, just dumped. To top it off, the council are not coming to our road for another week to collect the trees! So he thinks it's okay to just leave it there and say nothing?

What would you have done. Oh, and he has a car and could easily take it to Peckham Rye Park to dispose.

Not acceptable MW74. I'd move it into the (presumably) communal hallway and lean it against their door if I were you..

I've put a note through his door telling him it's not on and for him to shift it.

For now it's on the pavement. If someone trips over it, it's his damn tree not mine.
