That should read "You know you're NEW to East Dulwich when "You find yourself queuing around the block for

> your local butchers." instead of visiting the butchers opposite The Plough or popping along to Mr Sparkes' on NorthX Rd on a Saturday.

When sly and reggie are banned from their peripatetic performances. Grrrr.

Oh yeah, and when strangers are kind to your loved ones - and each other. *blushes*

Oh yeah, and when the streets are festooned with dog shit. Grrrr.

Oh yeah, and when kind people return lost wallets intact. Hurrah!

I've often found it to be the other way round. Either term makes me want to stab myself in the eyes.

    • Sorry, I know this isn't strictly an East Dulwich topic but as there are so many late-Victorian properties in the area I wondered if anyone has seen anything similar in their house and can advise. We have what looks like an old gas outlet on the back wall of our daughter's bedroom which we'd like to remove, but we weren't sure whether it's safe to do so. Do I just call a registered gas engineer to check it out? And is it definitely a gas outlet or might it be something else? It's at floor level so maybe electricity but it doesn't look like any electricity outlet I've ever seen! Has anyone had any experience of dealing with something similar?

    • End of a wonderful era. We’ve been going since it opened and even started contractions with my oldest (25 year old) son during a lovely New Year’s Eve lunch. Thank you Rod and Tim for some amazing memories.
