Steady on, steady on. I am merely a jobbing curry lover. Indeed any spicy food will do, I have today returned from Olu Deniz and would recommend the Sultan Ahmet restaurant for those that enjoy good Turkish food.

I stand by my review of Veer Zara - but did at the time point out that they were newly open. The joy of the Curry Club is that we give second and third chances. Thus even after my first experience we took a group of 14 along and had a good evening, things had improved in a short time. Good for them.

The Veer Zara menu is somewhat generic, in that it is contemporary generic. If you go to those restaurants that have refurbed and re-opened in the past few years you will find that their menus have gone in a similar direction. What I think is particularly welcome is that they now reflect their Anglo-Bangladeshi heritage rather than the pretence that they are "Indian".

There is an instinct amongst the new owners of restaurants to adopt a forumla that is perceived to be successfull and drop that which is thought to be old hat.

However, old-hat can be good. It has the comfort of the familiar and the very well practiced and so is well done.

    • DKH was two form entry, it is now one form entry to cope with the fact it was far more under subscribed than other schools in the area. They had actually combined year groups into single classes, 3/4 and 5/6.  When a school changes name, it’s usually because of a bad reputation perhaps the results.  The new name is dry with no history unlike its current name. It’s a very sketchy decision. It’s an expensive vanity project for someone.  What  will happen if the name change does not increase applications to the school?
    • @first mate I assume Alice made a mistake, as she removed her reaction.  I was wondering about park wardens. As I said, there was one there last night, who was incredibly helpful and proactive. As well as bringing me to the police, he caught up with a young guy on a bike who'd earlier been the victim of an attempted theft by these kids and linked him up with the police too. But I do wonder, as I've only very occasionally seen him riding around, how many they have and what hours they patrol. I've no doubt they'd be a strong deterrent if they had a better presence. They were nowhere to be seen the first time around.  Update: I've just found this: https://services.southwark.gov.uk/community-safety/community-wardens The guy in the photo at the bottom of the page was the lovely warden of last night and I've just now remembered him telling me he's based in Burgess Park. Anyway, there needs to be more of them, as I rarely see one in Peckham.
