To be fair, it would be made documentary style if at all. However, I have to agree that these people are really really annoying, and I have started to believe that Maddie just ran away to avoid having to listen to any mopre of their absolute drivle.

Keef - I did laugh out loud at this - and am now getting bemused looks from all around me :))

me too!

I still can't get my head around the fact that they left little children all alone just to have dinner and get arseholed with friends. I have never ever and have never dreamt of leaving my kids alone when we have gone on holiday. If we had to go to a bar or restaurant and they got bored and irritable, we went out for a walk and find something for them to do afterwards or made arrangements that they were never left on their own. Im also wondering whether that if the mcCanns were ordinary working class people from a council estate they would have been villified for their actions.

I dunno, I got to spend all day tramping around the fields and woods around where I grew up from the age of about 6 onwards with no obsessive parental supervision and have memories of parents going to dinner at a neighbours house and checking on us regularly.

I bet most parents do and 99.999999999% of the time nothing happens. Of course we've absolutely no idea what happened, that might have happened, other things might have happened, but I'm really thinking more and more that Keef's theory could hold water.

I want a name for the annoying dad's that push their bratty sprogs about.

Not all dad's.

The ones who know about designer kids clothes and acccessorize their trendy tots to match their own designer wear.

All I could think of was faddy daddy, but I'm sure you lot could do better.

There?s a lot wrong with it if you are South African (I don't think we are really antipodeans)* Although I recently got mistaken for an englishman by a kiwi. This also bothered me. I'm a barefoot boer and proud of it. Dammit!

* Lighthearted banter you understand

I have had enough of people who try and act like, speak like or pretend to be from a different ethnic group other than their original one. Why? Asian boys trying to speak like Yardies, instead of being proud of their sikh, hindu or other heritages, or even white women who go out with black men and then think because they have had mixed race children with their partners think it left some black in them! And try to speak like and act like something they are not, you never or very rarely get this with women when they are in mixed relationships with any other nationality i.e. Asian etc. Why can't people just be themselves and stop being so pretentious and obnoxious.

    • This week's edition of The Briefing Room I found really useful and impressively informative on the training aspect.  David Aaronovitch has come a long way since his University Challenge day. 😉  It's available to hear online or download as mp3. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m002n7wv In a few days time resident doctors -who used to be known as junior doctors - were meant to be going on strike. This would be the 14th strike by the doctors’ union since March 2023. The ostensible reason was pay but now the dispute may be over without more increases to salary levels. The Government has instead made an offer to do something about the other big issue for early career doctors - working conditions and specialist training places. David Aaronovitch and guests discuss what's going on and ask what the problem is with the way we in Britain train our doctors? Guests: Hugh Pym, BBC Health Editor Sir Andrew Goddard, Consultant Gastroenterologist Professor Martin McKee, Professor of European Public Health, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine Mark Dayan, Policy Analyst, Nuffield Trust. Presenter: David Aaronovitch Producers: Caroline Bayley, Kirsteen Knight, Cordelia Hemming Production Co-ordinator: Maria Ogundele Sound Engineers: Michael Regaard, Gareth Jones Editor: Richard Vadon
    • That was one that the BBC seem to have lost track of.  But they do still have quite a few. These are some in their 60s archive. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0028zp6
