Woodrot - you only provide a binary choice Love or Hate. Most of us are too nuanced for that, so why not propose a scaled approach?

1 = Consuming Hatred

10 = Uncritical Love

With ZERO (0) to represent the "frankly I don't give a damn" position.

For your list my scores are:

The Royal Family The Queen - 8, the rest 5

Nick Clegg 0

Thatcher 8

Richard Branson 6

Former members of Genesis 0

Apple 7

And to add a few more:

Ken Livingstone 2

Arthur Scargill 2

New Nexus 2

Stalin 2

Hitler 1

Katie Price 0

A Hate Index?, good work MM!!!

I'm having a think and I'm clearly mellowing in my old age, the royals on masse barely register a 6, Queenie earning herself a 7 for unselfish if rather dull service over the years despite my instinctive republican leanings, though Charlie probably gets a 4.

Tories in a general principal sort of way potter between 5 and 6 though I'm sure I can muster one or two to go lower, ditto labour.

Galloway, he could probably get a 3 in good company with premiership football.

Katie Price is a 0 though what she represents is pretty much 2.

Paying booking fees on gig tickets (at a per ticket basis gggnnrrrrrrrkrkkhkrhrr!!!) is the only thing I can think of that gets a 1.

Oh, and Tony Blair obviously.

Bob Crow and the RMT: 1 (assuming the meter stops there. Else -99)

Camilla: 8 (the lady is just class in her dignified silence)

Ken: 7 (glad he lost the election, but do have a soft spot for him)

Ed Miliband: Meh. High on the Don't-Care-O-Meter. I mean, I'm not sure he actually exists.

The Guardian: 3 or 7, depending on what day it is and what stupid/smart opinion they have posted today.

Judge Judy: 9

Microsoft: 7 (when I am using Word)

Microsoft: 2 (when I am using Excel 2007)

    • Most of the groceries shops in Lordship Lane have a security presence…curious thing is I and another woman recently saw a shop lifter lift and not pay for a couple of packet of steaks, veg and bottle of wine..  Literally walked Pat the tills, one member of staff and security guard despite someone else going in front by a few people and mentioning person in question! I have to say, speechless and admired their bravado - I would not have the guts and knowing my luck, if I accidentally didn’t put something tru the till despite receipt would prob get stopped! Yes, worked with families, homeless and other people who were struggling for food so I do understand why they do it.. sad when you think about it, that in this day and age, all sorts of c people need assistance and help from community in general, food banks, olio etc….
    • Just not keen to have all these  things  in my body… having said  that, thinking about Covid again as need to come to London to two hospitals for poss overnight stays.
    • And another one, number 6, has just gone passed as well!  I presume that the LTNs are blocking them from a more useful route. Or the surrounding road works.
    • Yes, I saw an incident van too, earlier, around 3.30 - never seen one before. It did look as if it was on its way to something major.
