jennyh
Hi allour boiler is on the blink and have been ignoring it but really we need to sort it out. We will get a plumber if needs be but could really do without the cost so any wise people experienced in boilers do reply! The reset light is flashing red, we have tried holding it down to reset it but it either turns the boiler on for a few seconds before returning to flashing or it just carries on flashing. have done the usual turning off and on again...nothing. That is the extent of our knowledge. Anyone experienced this and did they manage to sort it/did it cost much to sort?? keano77
Hi Jennyh,This sounds exactly like a problem we had recently. We had to call a plumber when we got fed up of boiling a kettle to do the washing up.Turns out it was a small and inexpensive sensor that cost around ?15 plus Vat. However, overall cost of the plumber on call out and labour and the part ended up at ?160 (he did however service it at the same time).Great to be able to run a bath again though Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/23904-anyone-got-advice-re-a-flashing-light-on-the-boiler/#findComment-551547 Share on other sites

jennyh
Thanks Keano77, its good to hear how much that cost you, lets wait and see if it is something similar. MSA - thanks for the link, I tried that last night and did everything it suggested but alas it didn't work :(Going to have to get the plumber over, I wouldnt mind too much if it wasn't for having a toddler, we need hot water so better get it sorted! Thanks for your help. matthew123
Why don't you ring up Worcester / Bosch itself, and find out how much they charge for their engineer to visit and repair - as I know to come out and repair a Bosch Gas Hob that Bosch charge ?99 so maybe also competitive for one of their own Bosch Boilers vs Plumber. Loz
I've used Stevensons for fixing my boiler before and they're pretty good. We had them recommended to us by a friend. Sue
I can also recommend Peter Bennison. But I'd be inclined to phone the boiler manufacturers first as they might be able to talk you through trouble-shooting which isn't on their website help page.Would only take the cost and time of a phone call, so nothing much lost if you still have to get someone to look at it. jennyh
Thanks everyone, got a plumber over from a recommendation on here and whilst he was here some other stuff went wrong so it turns out we have a few faults. The boiler is 7 years old and we've been rubbish with services so no surprise really. He recommended I call Worcester about it and I have decided to go with their service contract as there are a few things that could need doing in the long-term so it will give us repairs for a year. Not cheap but I think worth it on this occaion.
