Have done it a few times in the last few months, even during rush hour on Friday last with really large suitcase reall simple the worst bit is the steps at honor oak but can be avoided by getting train to forest hill instead where there is a lift. Takes about 25 minutes all in all and at ?1.80 can't complain. Honor Oak -Canada WAter -Canada WAter jubilee line Canning Town -Canning town DLR City airport a lot less daffy then it sounds
Just in case anyone else does the trip. We did a cab on the way there as a sunday and traffic was light plus we worried the public transport may have been slow. Most of the local firms quoted around ?25 and it took ?30 mins. On the way back the plane landed at 430pm so we didnt want to do a cab in rush hour. We did the recommended overland and tube route and it was great although the overground leg from canada water was crowded. City airport is brilliant aswell its so efficient and quick to get through check in and customs, its much less hassle than gatwick or heathrow.

Depends where you are in ED. If you are nearer to the library or Forest Hill Road, then perhaps HOP is the best way to go. I've taken the bus from the end of Dunstan's Road/LL to Forest Hill, then Overground to C Water, then Jubilee then DLR. It sounds a faff, but it's not. Pack light!

    • Sorry for dragging this back on topic, but earlier I had a discussion with Luca the site manager who was also singing the praises of the 'new' waste management team. He invited me on to the ground to the east of the 'parkrun start' path to check out how well they'd done. Within 20 paces I'd picked up (and given to him) 2 cellophane filter tip wrappers, 3 fag butts, assorted scraps of plastic wrappers....! He awkwardly then said they were still onsite, and sent 1 guy out to litter pick. He also made the statement that it's "an impossible task". I will be over there tomorrow to find, collect and document all the remaining litter, to assist with next year's consultation. I think it's important to pass on that type of information?
    • Hi My friend who’s a local tree surgeon unfortunately had his small Stihl petrol chainsaw stolen last week. As a tree surgeon, this is pretty gutting.    I wondered whether anyone on here might have a spare secondhand one that they don’t use anymore. Or perhaps one that’s been left in a shed or garage gathering dust that isn’t needed. Joe would be delighted and very grateful if we could magic him a replacement soon! 🤩 Thanks so much!  Claire (07946) 728879
    • Thanks to Coe and Lard  for playing this, hadn't heard it for so so long,  This is a poor recording, but predates the punk explosion  of the late 70s, so ahead of the game....
    • I don't eat meat but if I had an air rifle the various vermin would be very afraid.  I've trapped squirrels in the loft, I wont go any further on that one. The Horniman Nature Reserve rats will take on any of yours, apart from.... Cox's walk which takes on another level.  During Covid it felt like you were in Hamelin.
