The last time I went to ED Police Station was to hand in a wallet I'd found. I went there because it was nearer than going to the busier Peckham Station. I guess the real question is what purpose does ED station serve? It's not a fully functioning station and a counter service isn't really enough to justify keeping a whole building open imo.

Public Land Should Remain So: from the FT/ Anna Minton click and read. It pretty much sums up my opinion.

We are very much in danger of selling everything and building high before a generation of planners and politicians arrives with the full facts of where we're going climate/ land/ population

This particular building is hidious. But, it seems to be a hive of activity on the inside, undetectable on the outside. Should we have to go to Peckham for routine policing what should be the fabric of puplic services? What other services could fill the building with a new cladding of solar cells or a horizontal farm and solar panels on the roof. Why not a cinema with bijou showing rooms or a children's activity centre for paid drop in by the hour? I despair at the lack of imagination shown by politicians for whom disposal of everything held in the public trust is the only option.

For those who are interested, the Southwark Police Borough Commander has agreed to attend the next Dulwich Community Council meeting on September 18th at the Dulwich Library. He will be discussing changes to the local police services in the Dulwich area in general and we are hoping to extract a confirmation about the ED station in the process.

So, if you feel strongly about this subject, this is an opportunity to be heard.

The BC has a very tight schedule, so his slot will start precisely at 7pm and last for half an hour.

    • that is one cliche-ridden post headnun    it doesn’t mean a sack of beans in the real world  “old fashioned voters” meaning the ones dragging the country down this last 15 years just to laugh at the libs tears. Well done all  I’m not looking back at all. This is not a post Europe world in any sense. There are forces bigger than Europe but uk would be better aligning with Europe against, say, china, the pretending we live in some post Europe world.    and in case you hadn’t noticed, whoever you vote for, there are a LOT of ignorant racists feeling very happy with their resurgence - I would fight against them if I were you
    • No they aren't. You're coming across as a smug, superior liberal, and that's what old fashioned voters (labour, Cons and now Reform) hate. That 'the deplorables' 'they're all ignorant racists' line is what's driving people away from the traditional parties and towards Reform.  You're as guilty of looking back as Labour. This is a new, post-europe world and we all need to come to terms with that, make do with what we have, and move forward.
    • I have sympathy with any voter, anyone, who having witnessed the last 14 years and then Labour in the last year and wonders just how can things be this bad  unless a) they voted for brexit b) voted Tory after 2010 c) is thinking of voting reform  because anyone who thinks reform won’t make things a thousand times worse after voting for the previous?  It is they who are the problem.  They are the reason the country is in the doldrums with an embarrassingly-timid Labour government  Specifically Chris mason - a not very bright right leaning stooge - large part of why bbc news has become grok-level slop
    • In what way? Maybe it just felt more intelligent and considered coming directly after Question Time, which was a barely watchable bun fight.
