All week I flit between Radio 4 & BBC London

But Saturday is my guilty pleasure day

LBC 97.3 FM

Ken Livingstone & David Mellor 10-1pm

Quite brilliant, I love and loathe them in equal measure.

It's great fun, I hate myself !

I feel compelled to ask whether people genuinely feel guilty about taking pleasure in biscuits, or drugs, or sex. Because unless it's sex with children / animals / your best friend's wife (I'm looking at you, Gary Moore); cocaine (ethically unconscionable); biscuits made by little people in sweat shops, where's the harm?

Throw off the shackles: pleasure makes you happy.

Unless you're catholic.

In which case, you're fucked ed.

Heard some woman talking about guilty pleasures on the radio recently. She was basically saying that people call things guilty pleasure when they basically don't think the people they'd want to impress would think it was cool enough.

I think she was spot on when it comes to stuff like music or films.

With things like drugs or booze, it's more the fact you know it's not good for you (as with biscuits to a lesser extent), so it feels a bit naughty. I can't imagine actually feeling guilty about doing any of these things though.

That'll be it Rosie

I'm @#$%& ed.

(but loving it)

Every now and then i will put on a pair of tights on instead of stockings, it almost disgusts me that they are so comfortable, snug and 'safe' feeling. I am however conscious all day of how grim they actually are. I would be mortified if anyone knew i was wearing tights, im sure no one would give it a second thought but its on my mind constantly. I every time i take them off i vow never to wear them again..............

    • I would recommend the Dulwich Test and Service centre that used to be in Hindemanns road and then moved to the little Trading Estate off Tyrrel Road. I've used them very happily for nearly 40 years. Paul and Reg Shires.
    • Such a shame as Dells is fantastic - a decent local business providing a great service to residents.
    • Ha ha that's hilarious - how wonderfully embarrassing for Reform!
    • Closing down completely. The lovely people there are all retiring. Thanks, but Deptford is a long way to go to make two journeys to  take and collect a car! Do they not do even relatively minor repairs if it fails its MOT first time? Then that would require four journeys 😭 Wondering if there's already a thread on here for garage recommendations? People on my road WhatsApp group have recommended some local ones. I'm particularly gutted because apart from the lovely people who worked there,  Dell was a five minute walk for me!
