I heard the 'No Waiting' cones have been used on Hindmans Road (the ones Conway put out while the pavement works are ongoing), which suggests mindless vandalism. The 'pros' generally use something like a centre punch to create a hole through which they can access the inside door handle.

Not technically ED but nearby in ND (Casino Avenue) my daughter and my neighbour had their car windows smashed sometime during the night. Just found out another neighbour had theirs smashed sometime during the night too so it must be the same offenders. Another neighbour in the same road had their car window smashed early hours Tuesday morning.

In my daughter's case, nothing was taken but they rifled through the glovebox.

We stayed in the Chessington World of Adventures hotel once. It was the worst place I've ever stayed in without contest. Possibly an appropriate punishment.

This type of crime is a blast from the past. People must be desperate! Practically died out with the widespread use of alarms and built in car radios/bluetooth. Car owners must be leaving valuables in the car? Stop doing this and it will die out. P.s. even a rubbishy pillow can look like a bag when it rains.
Amazed that no one has actually caught a glimpse of the perp. Seems odd with today's tech combined with a fairly decent London neighbourhood - that's pretty good at looking out for itself - and no one seems to have seen a thing. Guessing the culprit chooses the "right moment."

    • Let's not forget this is the lowest level of local politics. If McCash really thought his defection could trash the Labour Party nationally, and it was loaded with invective and exhibitionism, then that's pretty much the definition of a "hissy fit"! Scooping the Green nomination for DaWN constituency is also going to be a lot harder for a Marxist arriviste than you suggest. There may be a wave of new, younger Polanski-ites that have joined the Green Party of E&W recently, but it's the long-standing, often retired members of the Party that tend to participate in candidate interview panels and bother voting in selections...
    • They've had 26 years or so of trading, and if anyone deserves decent retirement... In my view they're going out at the top. It's clearly being sold, assuming it all goes through as a very more more than just a going concern.
    • I had heard this was on the cards a while ago, sad, the end of an era, but well done Rod and Tim for stewarding a beacon of excellence for so many years.
    • Both your hopes will be fine, I think. Our waitress will stay on. The downstairs is getting refurbished, and the bar area enlarged, presumably by removing that awkward little 'lobby' by the loos.
