pebbles
Has anyone done this route changing at Canada Water? I have done it before the Olympics and it only took 30 mins but I'm concerned as to whether we will be able to get on a train at Canada Water?Any advice muchly appreciated Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24803-forest-hill-to-stratford/ Share on other sites
Bic Basher
I haven't used Canada Water since the games started, however the best thing to do is to get on the front carriage and go up the escalator to the ticket hall and then back down to the Jubilee platforms. There is a direct escalator from the Overground platform to the Jubilee, but I think that's closed for the duration of the games as it can get overcrowded on a normal day.Alternatives are to change at Whitechapel for the District/H&C and get off at West Ham if you have tickets to the Olympic Park events or you could do what I did on Saturday and stay on the Overground and change at Canonbury for Stratford. Pickle
Mr Pickle caught a 185 to Lewisham this morning, then the DLR to Stratford. Apparently very quick and easy, although it was quite early. henryb
I changed from ELL to Jubilee at Canada Water this morning 830ish - no problem at all. Got on first Jubilee train eastbound and even got a seat! Better than it normally is. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24803-forest-hill-to-stratford/#findComment-564366 Share on other sites
hoser
Yes, I took a train at CW west around 9:15, but both platforms were less busy than usual, and an uncrowded eastbound train arrived while I waited. hellokiran
Get the 40 to Aldgate....that bits long but at least you'll get to sit down/stare out the window/snooze for a bit the walk to Liverpool street. One stop on the overhead to Stratford. Once your in Aldgate the journey is only about 20 minutes depending on if you know how to walk to Liverpool st or not Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24803-forest-hill-to-stratford/#findComment-564654 Share on other sites
ellekit
Hubby and I went from Forest Hill to Stratford yesterday. We left around 7 in the morning and came back around 5 in the evening. Although it was very busy, but we were able to get onto the overland/tube easily and there was no problem with our travel there or back home. Lu
I've changed from the Overground to Jubilee Line at Canada Water yesterday and today with no problems at all, no busier than a normal commute day. The Overground trains are always pretty busy but I get on after Forest Hill so you should have no problem.
