El Pibe
with a bit of luck they'll soon be driven by the google driverless car. No doubt I'll always somehow end up with the one that installed the 'milwall fan banter' plugin :( Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24960-new-london-black-cab-design/#findComment-566555 Share on other sites

Michael Palaeologus
Well, maybe, but the manufacturers of the traditional TX have had a monopoly for years and their prices for vehicles and spares have been very high. This because of the technical requirements placed upon Black Cabs and the relatively low production volumes of TX.Technology has finally caught up and so mainstream manufacturers can meet those requirements without an excessive investment in R&D. They can manufacture variants of existing models and so benefit from lower costs through high production volume. Mercedes got in to the market first a few years ago. They met the challengingly small turning circle requirement by grafting 4 wheel steering onto an existing people mover design. Now Nissan have followed them and it wont be long before other manufacturers pile in too. Mick Mac
I have always thought, if I need a cab or a curry, mike p is the man. He is the sort of cabbie who likes to keep his light off but now his cover is blown.
