We had a great time. All the waverers made it in the end, which was nice.

As always didn't get to talk to everyone and didn't get to talk to anyone for long enough, but there's always next month.

My highlights would have to be Bellenden Belle on sparkling social form, Mockney's explaination of the shape of God and marriage (an education for us poor sinners not married in the eyes of the Lord) and Sean (unsucessfully) trying to make a quick, quiet exit.

We decided (wisely I think) against the afterparty at the Gowlett, but I'm sure you all had a good time.

:))

I had a great time meeting everyone again, but my ex chickened out. I started off quite well but quickly got drunk, sorry bout the headbutt AnnaJ! Then I got my rather shapely arse down to the dive that is known as 'The Temple Bar' to get my groove on with my daughter and her mates. Was joined by my ex later in the evening and had the mandatory booze soaker-upper in Bagel King then get my drunken self back on the nightbus with cute ex boyfriend. Cheers me dears.

The Temple Bar on Walworth Rd - what a venue that is. My brother briefly managed Sully Shuffles across the road and even he was intimidated by the Temple

I turned up in body last night but after a long week at work couldn't get the gears working - apologies to those I spoke with for any inanity I proferred.

Glad we had some lovely new people come along - moos I met briefly and Sue I spoke to for a while. SteveT I'm tempted to call a newbie after his late "arrival" at the last drinks

Despite closing at 11 I thought the bar staff did a great job all night and handled the requirement to get us out of the pub much, much better than the Dog did last month - cheers to them

Another good night. A pleasure to meet all the new faces & not so new faces I forgot from other times! Much friendlier than the Dog, though that's not difficult.

Headed on to the Gowlett which was good fun & finished me off. Lady Onion was sensible & headed off so is rather more awake than I am today.

Hello all

Thanks very much for the kind and friendly welcome yesterday - really enjoyed meeting you all, and putting faces to the Forum characters! The briefly-orphaned Moosling even let us sleep in till 6.30 this morning, yippee. Looking forward to next month.

Possibly a milk stout for mini-moos, and save the G&T for adult use, mr moos would appreciate it and as he baby sat last night he's earned it.

Anyway it's a big mistake over indulging the children when they can get by with a tinny and a crust of bread, or teething ring dipped in guinness:)

sorry bout the headbutt AnnaJ!

Glad you had a good night CWALD - but as AnnaJ mentioned it was my head! And there were plural headbutts! I thought it was hilarious!

And I think the two of us may have entertained a few with our rather public and indiscreet conversations... hee hee, that will get you thinking.(may I echo SteveT's comment about your fantastic new haircut - you looked fabulous darling!)

Great night all round - had great fun chatting with Mockney Piers, Michael Papadopulous (sp?); Bob the sailor (right name? I was drunk by then); Sue ... who I think should become Sicillian Sue so we remember her posts; Bignumberfive who was the perfect match for AnnaJ; Steve for the brilliant sticker ideas; Bagpuss for just being her usual wonderful self; Alley Cat for gently pointing out I seemed rather merry on arrival; Floating Onion for scrabble info update; AnotherPaul (sorry about the mix up about your job); Georgia for being lovely and welcoming as always; CitizenEd for admitting he hadn't read my books (totally forgiven); Sean for enquiring after my eye; Jah Lush for sharing his own eye issues; and AnnaJ whose company is always a joy.

My one complaint... there was too little time! Roll on next month....

heeeeeeeeeeeeeeellllllllloooooooooooooooooooo

was a cool night, sorry that I had to leave around 12ish but they kicked us out anyway.

It's about 26 degrees over here in florida, and will get even better tomorrow.

The girls over here look like that they've taken off some beverly hills series, I've never been into american girls, but bloody hell !!! they're bloody hot! and they can't hold a conversation. wicked.

tomorrow I might go and see the fake pics about the moon and buy a nintendo DS lite for 30quid, drink more dodgy american lagger and some good newcastle ale.

miss my girl, though.

Glad you are having fun in Florida Azul. Good move with the last statement!!

People seem to prefer a post 25th date - so how about 28 March? Although it is the Easter week, so a possibility is to shift it to 4 April - then everybody will have been paid.

Where do people want to go for the next one?

Thoughts?

good times had again. bb, nice to meet you and thanks for helping me convince the annaj that she cannot do any better so will just have to stick with me ;-)

great to see you all again and welcome to moos - abandoning the sproggs to get drunk with internet friends is surely the future of ED and what this 'ere forum is all about... ?

RE: early chuck out - keef, very true. I haven't been hearded out of a pub that aggressively for a while. Where to next month?

    • It's the "due to commercial reasons" line again that is vexing. Last year it seemed, although there was a similar level of objection, that the reasons were commercial - Gala didn't appear entirely prepared to run 3 more events, or more likely didn't have sufficient interest from other promoters / organisers who could 'sub-let' the site as with Brockwell Park (I believe?). This year they appeared more organised, had another year to plan & prepare, to the extent they actually had names for two of the three new events which indicated to me that they had third party promoters / organisers in place.  So yes, it does make you wonder whether the repeated level of objection, combined with the impending elections, led to the council 'advising' that maybe they shelve it again? I'm afraid I can't see the whole extension application just being a ruse to guarantee permission for the 'regular' event. Gala are a commercial venture with ambition - every festival's business plan is to expand, expand, expand, year on year on year. Gala won't give up until they have taken over the whole park for a Summer of Raves, and the mysterious owners are on their yachts counting their ££££
    • Thanks for that. Maybe forthcoming elections have stymied the 7 day request? If Labour get back in, do we think GALA will try with greater success in 2027?
    • Better late than never, same obscure reason as previously for not going ahead with the extended plan... "Due to commercial reasons, the event organisers have withdrawn their application to hold a 7- day event over two weekends. The application has been revised to request the use of Peckham Rye Park to hold a 4-day event over one bank holiday weekend with the following schedule: • Onsite: Monday 11 May 2026 • GALA: Friday 22 – Sunday 24 May • On the Rye Festival: BH Monday 25 May • Off-site Sunday 31 May 2026 This is the same event programme that was delivered in 2025."  GALA 2026 consultation findings report 1519.pdf
    • Do great pizzas there at community cafe.. lots going on — was free parking but plans  to like everywhere get folk to pay.  Nice area… only discovered it a few years ago..
