I?ve just read some of the comments for this post and felt really sorry for the many small businesses trying to survive in the present situation.

I don?t know this particular business and the brunch menu isn?t something on my wish list.

However, I did talk to the owner of my local cafe this week who is worried sick about money to pay suppliers, rent and rates etc. So I will buy a coffee there whenever I can to give support. It?s not an essential service and nor is this, but I want my local cafes to survive. So just as in the ?normal? world, individual consumers can make their own choices how to spend their money.

In the case of cafes, the criteria for choice is entirely down to personal taste.

Please EDF, let?s choose any comments with a little more kindness and understanding.

how about the man who now has no job 4 kids and still have bills to pay, most of cafes have a very big profit margin so if the cafe have been trading for some time they must have a bit put by, we are all in this together so lets get real and not rip others off instead sell at the right price and you will sell and make money. good luck to every and lets hope it all ends soon

absolutely disgusting

Big profit margins and money put by in the hospitality/ catering industry? Are you for real?! Independent cafes, restaurants, pubs etc (not the chains) are generally run hand-to-mouth with most just about managing to stay afloat, especially if the premises are paying extortionate rent.

I'm passing no comment on whether this ?35 brunch box is good value or not......but please don't be deluded into thinking there is big money being made by these small businesses.

They are trying to survive

do you think that if it was a bad payday to have a cafe you would do it only a fool would run a business if it made no money, come on get real about this every one who has a business say's it don't make any money is so why have one work for someone else its not rocket science. just work out a cup of tea in a cafe ?1 you work out the profit

We all understand that everyone is trying to survive buth blatant overcharging is not about survival its about making the most of the situation. They will have shot themselves in the foot as things like this will be remembered and people will avoid the business.

Everyone has to earn a income some how, as for the poor old man with four children, I can suggest maybe he needs a better job to feeds his family or look at other resources as there if people are struggling to live now days they shouldn't have children

Yes, there are people with families in East Dulwich, the U.K. and all over the world struggling to live and jobless at the moment, - did you miss something? I'm sure they will receive your advice gratefully. And, DulwichB20, may I also inquire if you are a member of the S.E. bakery team,- who seem to have remained tacit regarding the comments on both threads,- as you seem strangely defensive of them on all the posts you have made on this forum since you registered today?

Unfortunately in this pandemic families do have to survive, it is the harsh reality of the truth, if someone decides to pay for the box out of their own hard earned cash then why not? As Long as they have they money surely it doesn't more matter

    • It worked. Corbyn did similar although not to the same degree. Momentum had a purge too when Corbyn got in. All his political life he opposed the EU but when it came to the crunch he publicly backed them during the referendum. I believe that was to appease the middle classes that he was appealing to. He messed up big time when wooing the middle classes at Glastonbury whilst ignoring his core working class voters up north. They also happened to be leave voters. He got starstruck and forgot about his politics. Corbynmania was thing, a movement but it was also the making of his downfall. For the many and not the few came back and slapped him right in the face.
    • Nothing to do with the tories overspending whatsoever eh! Blame the last 10/11 years of blatant mismanagement, incompetence and willful deceit on the poor bastards that were left with the fall out of a complete car crash tory government.   One PM after another falling on their sword. Open corruption and piss taking throughout covid and a legacy of huge debt and destruction yet in your view it will be labour's 4 years in power that bankrupts us in 2029.  Another one that must think people are blind and stupid.  Rejoice rejoice. It's a pity he and his fellow clowns were completely annihilated at the ballot box. I mean they were doing so well after all 🙃🙃
    • Where did I say he did a good job? Yup and Corbyn was very close to Len McCluskey and funded by Unite wasn't he...they're all as bad as each other... Labour have to purge their party of the far-left - they're a disaster. Allan Johnson summed it up so well on election night in 2019....
    • Thank you for the detailed advise @trinidad It is definitely damage we are concerned about. I don’t think Evri would agree to pay the bill to fix our gate or letter box if they were to be damaged as a result of their delivery drivers helper. Our doorbell can be heard from outside when rung so we don’t quite believe the aggressive simultaneous door/letter box banging is necessary. It can be quite a shock it is done very aggressively.  I’ll definitely action the steps you’ve kindly provided along with a phone call tomorrow. I do sympathise with the role drivers have and how busy they are, which is why we tried communicating directly with her but sadly we haven’t succeeded
