I think it needs to develop some new characters as there's not that many can come back as Saul didn't 'know' that many from the original.

Hank could easily turn up as he's DEA, and could easily be interviewing a suspect that Saul bursts in to defend. It wasn't specified but I got the impression their paths might have crossed professionally before Badger.

Agreed, even Tuco as reintroduced while entertaining has been implausible / inconsistent with the character we knew. Trying not to spoil but the resolution of that situation seemed far fetched. Mike has been written more consistently but he was never that entertaining.

My memory is hazy over Mike's relationship with Gus. Didn't he work for him as well as Saul?

Don't think Hank would work as a main storyline, but would be an easy cameo.

But agree it needs to introduce it's own characters and try to go it's own way.

Think that part of it was poorly explained in BB, but my assumption was that he was on Gus' payroll, and did odd jobs for Saul on the side. I also assumed that Mike was the one who put Saul/Walter in touch with Gus in the first place.

Wowsers. Better Call Saul has just leapt from light hearted spin off to something ad powerful as Breaking Bad.

Superb episode 6 this week with Mike's story and fantastic acting.

I'm really liking Better Call Saul - surprised there hasn't been more hype around it. Always a bit dubious about spin offs from popular shows, but it definitely stands up in it's own right IMO.

Breaking Bad to be shown in full on UK terrestrial TV for the first time.

All 5 seasons to be aired on Spike, a new freeview channel that launches on April 15th.

Got box set as a gift and just watched all of it in a short space of time. Very enjoyable series. Saved reading this thread until now. As for characters, there were so many good ones. I could never bring myself to think Walt was actually bad. I suppose he was but I sort of felt he was doing things for a right reason. Of the more obscure characters, I though Declan was great.

Someone got me the BB series for Xmas, which was a big surprise cos I'm a known non-telly guy. Watched 5 episodes over weekend and thought it was ace !

I don't think Walt was ever fully BAD, he always had an arguably good reason for his actions, but he crossed line after line and I guess the point is that you can never go back once you've crossed a line, even when intentions were honourable.

In related news. Better Call Saul, season 2 is now on Netflix.

He arguably had good intentions during the first/second seasons... by the fourth season they had disappeared and he was consumed with greed, and it was pretty hard to see any shred of goodness within him.

Better Call Saul is good... an altogether more lighthearted affair, but have been enjoying it so far.

Didn't want to start a new thread but I feel another box set coming on. I wan't something that's finished and was thinking of either The Sopranos or The Wire. I've seen some of the latter and enjoyed it.

Any suggestions?

Both of those are excellent.

Big Love is something a bit different, which I also thought was great. And six feet under is another (these are all HBO).

For comedy, I really enjoyed The Brink.

And my favourite thing recently was The Leftovers, although I know people that didn't get on with it.

I'm in the process of watching the Soprano's (just getting to the end of Series 4). It's definitely worth revisiting.

Big thumbs-up for BB, Saul, Battlestar, Making a Murderer and Narcos.

Got bored with House of Cards, aborted Fargo and OITNB very quickly. Not interested in jumper-wearing detective-noir (or re-makes), comedy or anything to do with superheroes.
