I can't recommend the Forest Hill Road Group Practice highly enough. Dr McColl is particularly wonderful, but all the doctors there are excellent. I've been with the practice for about 35 years, and have never had any complaints, but since I had a serious illness last year, the treatment I've had from everyone there has been absolutely amazing.
I had a series of very bad experiences with doctors at the FHR Practice, in addition to very rude reception staff. Drs at FRH gave me wrong and incomplete medical advice. One doctor there failed to send me for very simple blood tests which would have aided the early diagnosis of a rare blood disorder. Another doctor wrongly told me that there are no safe drugs approved for the treament of PND in breastfeeding mothers. And instead of offering to refer me to a lactation consultant for breastfeeding issues, the HV wanted me to see a nutritionist. Not only was I appalled that the referral was incorrect, I was hugely dismayed that the HV did not even know the different between a nutritionist and a dietition! (A dietition is licensed; anyone can call him/herself a nutritionist.) I ended up having to pay to see private specialists. Shortly thereafter I moved house to SE4 and needless to say I registered with a new surgery.

DMC on Chadwick Road in Peckham may be a bit far, but they have four permanent female GPs who are all lovely. Dr Chung and Dr Henderson particularly.

I've never been kept waiting long for appts, good same day appointments and will try their best to squeeze your kids in if there's a need.

At dmc on crystal palace road dr satya prabhakaran is the best gp i have ever had. A nightmare to get hold of as she is so popular but so worth it. She is superb and so lovely! At the same pratice dr alison davidson and dr alison davidson is also great as well as dr thomson. All female

Does anyone know of any local practices that have an asthma clinic? NHS website said the Gardens do but i think i'm only just out of there boundary :( plus it says nothing on their website about an asthma clinic.

I had really good support at my old surgery as they had a specialist asthma nurse/clinic so could do with this again at a new practice - especially with winter coming!

ooh thank you, but i'm not in their catchment either- should have said i'm up Bellenden Rd, but the part that's just out of The Garden's reach :(

I wholeheartedly recommend Dr Scorer at FHC, She has been my GP for 20 years and is knowledgeable, sympathetic and understanding. She only works part time, so you have to make an appointment in advance - but if it is a non-urgent issue, very much worth it. I have nothing but praise for FHC who have never let me or my family down.
The LL surgery is AWFUL!!! The Dulwich medical centre on Crystal Palace rd has several female GPS and is very pleasant to visit. I had lovely young, sensible and sympathetic doctor there once, unfort i cant remember her name - she was Indian and very pretty, if that helps!!

Haha! this is soooo true!

Can't say I recommend the Gardens much. They're ok but there's no stand out doctor and sometimes they say odd/(not meaning to be) unsympathetic things.

I am another big fan of Dr Scorer. She talks to me as an intelligent adult and has always made me feel empowered in my treatment. She is also great on women's health issues in particular.

I used to see Dr Ackland when she was at Melbourne Grove. Brilliant GP who got me through a very difficult patch of mental health.

    • The tenant's business has already failed. If the landlord doesn't accept it, they can have a vacant property, stand in the queue of creditors, and get paid little or nothing. It's a gamble that the restructuring will work and the tenant will start paying rent again. Commercial properties are often hard to let. 🤷
    • An inquiry will put a huge amount of time and resource into looking at what happened in the past and why it happened and who was responsible and, in a year or two maybe more, a report will be produced and actions may or may not be taken, some of those responsible for bad decisions will already have resigned and moved on.   Given that we now already understand some of the issues that allowed this awful behaviour to continue unchallenged, my concern is less about whether there is an inquiry to examine what happened in the past but about what is being done right now to protect girls and young women from predatory and exploitative men in whatever race or identity they come in. Inquiries examine the past but don't necessarily solve problems and they certainly don't come up with conclusions quickly which is why they can often feel hollow.  I'd rather see perpetrators and those that let the perpetrators act with impunity, actually being prosecuted and an inquiry won't do that.  I suspect that's why some MPs voted against an inquiry. But do feel free to give me examples of inquiries that really made a difference and actually changed things in a timely and effective way.
    • In recent consultation on further ED CPZ the majority of respondents were against. Fully appreciate you may not live on a road proposed for CPZ. If you are close to that area it is likely you will be affected by parking displacement if the CPZ goes in. I was just curious what James Barber's position on this is? Perhaps he'll come on here and let us know. He was always really good at visiting the forum.
