Lamingtons are only good when filled with whipped cream, I've never been a fan of the "diet" ones (as my Mum calls them!). I also prefer raspberry ones, which you don't often see in these parts. They've been around for ever (well, for my lifetime at least) over there, so it's amusing to see them popping up on posh cake stalls.

Friands... Having grown up in NZ, lived there for 26 years before moving here, I had never heard of them until August when my Mum seemed to be buying them at every opportunity. Didn't think they were particularly nice.

What Rosie said. Word for bloody word!

WHat about muffins??? For example - chocolate chip. Promise so much - all those chocolatey bits on top and shiny sticky gooey-looking surface. You think - maybe this one will be different, maybe this time it'll be a good'un. Underneath - shitty crumby crumbly stuff that gets EVERYWHERE - guess this pleases passing pigeons - and is usually dried out! Like most cupcakes - style over substance ... discuss...

I personally think that cupcakes and their obsessive production, are a manifestation of repressed sexual desires and frustrations.

Otta alludes to this in his last post (as I read it)

>decorate cupcakes with little shiny balls which are meant to be edible<

If that's not "Vagazzles" on a cupcake then i'm somewhat mistaken.

Actually, are Vagazzles edible ?

    • Hello! We are relocating abroad and so will be withdrawing our two children (ages 4 and 6) from St Dunstan’s College (Catford). If any family is considering enrolling children of a similar age, now would be an excellent opportunity—we’re required to pay full‑term fees unless the places are taken. Please get in touch if you’re interested or know someone who might be. Thank you!
    • Hi  I really thought I'd seen a more recent post on the forum about home education meet ups. I can't find it though. • Thanks for your reply. I’ve subscribed to Ancestry a few times in the past but felt I wasn’t using it enough to warrant keeping up the subscription.
    • Hi, I saw your post and just wanted to say that the incident you’re referring to did happen in the late 1980s at Dawson’s Heights. The person involved was named Carl Salawa, and he had just turned 18 years old at the time. Like you, I haven’t been able to find any news articles or official reports about it, If anyone remembers anything more about that time or incident, I’d really appreciate hearing about it. Thanks for sharing what you were told—it means a lot to know others remember.
