what happened today? Helicopter & police around Forest Hill Rd (Lounged)

Have a quick gin to steady your nerves DM.

The story is true, but it was a few days ago on the 16th.

An inpatient from a secure psychiatric unit absconded from King's while being treated. Obviously, it's not good news and shouldn't have happened, but I really don't think there's any need to be alarmed. His picture has been published in the national press, if you see him use your common sense and don't approach him, but do call the police.

so thats why theres never enough cops around, the met have spent all their money on flying cars.

I get fed up with the police telling us that the public should not approach

when some maniac gets out and about amongst us. I think they should be advising us

to get stuck into the bleeder if we fancy our chances and if said maniac gets a little banged-up

then so be it.

It's nanny stateism gone mad, I tell you.

I find the "ooohs" and "aaahs" and gasps of horror and fear at this chap's escape hilarious! I mean, does anyone really believe for one moment that, had this chap not escaped, there would be no other violent rapists on the streets of South London????? This reaction reminds me a little of the society in Demolition Man where, until Wesley Snipes turned up, there was no-one in the city who would even curse in public. I don't think that the addition of one more convicted offender to the vast swarm of criminality on out city's streets provides any more reason to lock our doors than we had already.

I was referring, dear Anna, to the "OHMYGOD!" from DM and the "Oh Jesus..." from Madworld. Perhaps I interrupted a prayer meeting but I assumed their comments were in relation to the escaped convict :-)

In which case I don't see any point in rescanning (not that it'll do any harm). I've not noticed any signal degradation at all, TV or BBC radio, so it sounds as if it's probably intermittent.  Ah -  I did notice a couple of brief  R4 breaks yesterday, and assumed they were studio glitches.  I don't think either lasted more than a minute.
