I'm looking for some advice/suggestions.

Was going to buy a Kindle, then made the mistake of having a look at the others on offer. I am now being drawn more to the Kobo or the Sony ereader. Reason being that you can only use Amazon to buy books for Kindles, whereas with the others you can use libraries and other booksellers. (I think that's right) But with the Kindle being by far the most popular I wonder whether I am missing something and I should stick with them.

So, can anyone offer any ideas to sway me either way?

thanks

If you do not mind the extra weight, or a bit more on the price you might want to look at a full blown tablet, the new kindles and kobos are steering this way anyhow! I have a blackberry playbook and an app to read ebooks. I had to adjust the contrast and chose sepia paper but it works great! I can choose wherever I want to download my books from, including lots of free titles.

Lots of publishers will sell you books in the kindle format but you have to go through a few extra steps to get them on your device, if you don't mind that then it's no problem, they will also handle pdfs but I'm not sure how well.

Or you could just get a tablet (Nexus 7 is a comparable size) then use any number of ebook reading apps plus check emails, facebook, etc

A 7 inch tablet weighs roughly the same as a kindle and can be held easily in your palm. I use my Samsung Tab as a kindle reader as I found kindle books to be more competitively priced than other e-book stores.

All depends what you want from the device I suppose. Some of the newer tablets cost about the same as an e-reader so personally I would go for something that can do a little more for me.

    • Hussein and his team have just finished painting our main reception room, kitchen and hallway throughout the house. We also threw a few extra curve balls in while we were away like painting the front door, garden walls and helping fit some new lights. Hussein is a pleasure to deal with: professional, diligent, trust worthy, flexible and a really nice bloke. This is the second time we have worked with him and will definitely do so again.
