Lots of people off with Norovirus and another flu type bug, I heard that at least half of the workforce in our community based office were ill last week.

The Clock House is about to undergo a refurb which will see it close for a month, so I'm guessing it's started?

All of the capital pubs closed due to staff parties. Notices up for ages beforehand and on various twitter feeds, as well as staff talking about it days beforehand

Happens every year as well. Nothing to worry about

The Clockhouse keeps getting little face lifts, but never really changes much. It's a pub that I've just never really taken to over the years, and I can't really put my finger on why.

Clockhouse... looks like a really lovely pub from the outside. Not so great inside, especially the area at the back, which just feels really odd.

Hopefully the redesign won't be too glitzy. It has got great potential as a pub and very near to me so hoping for great things.

Well, that is strange. I had an email from the Clockhouse with an offer on dining with wine that runs through Jan until 21st Feb??? The link takes you to the Youngs website which then goes on to say that the Clockhouse is taking part in the promotion????

The Clock House is undergoing a big refurb. The toilets at the back will be moved to an upstairs (that doesn't exist as yet) and an open kitchen is going to be created at the back turning it into a far more serious dining/ gastro pub. So it is a serious refurb. Time will tell if it pays off (competition is pretty stiff already for eating out locally). My poker night moved to the Herne as a result (but it's a move that was for the better).

Helen I had the same email and printed the same said vouchers.....but it's a promotion that youngs run several times a year so there'll be other opportunities to take it up.

If its it's still youngs food it'll be very expensive and very poor

(But food apart I've always had a soft spot for what is a quirky pub. Even if it doesn't always work)

I agree regarding Youngs. I think they've had completely the wrong business model for the Clock House for a while. It used to be reknown for food and rammed most weekends (was my fav local for years) but has died a slow and painful death for a while now.

The Dulwich wood house is also youngs. It also had a major refurb (18 months ago?).

It's got to be one of the worst run pubs I've ever been in - awful. Cr*p, overpriced food, ALWAYS Understaffed ( and badly staffed)

Youngs need to work out that some farow&ball paint and a glossy menu doesnt make for a good boozer
