The fact that people keep posting about it means its an important issue to people who live in East Dulwich. On our walk to school today along crystal palace road we had to negotiate small children & pram around 10 fresh lots of dog poo - all on the pavements. Our walk to school now is called 'dodge the dog poo' it's not right that people are allowing their dogs to crap on the pavements for everyone to walk in without clearing it up!

If dog poo is your biggest worry, then you are a very lucky person.

The forum is to help people with advice, ideas etc about the area. Venting your speen on the forum about someones dog doing a poo is not helping anyone. Either say something to the person at the time or pick it up yourself.

Otherwise, I couldnt give a $hit ...

Since when did you decide what the forum is for?

We have local councillors who read this forum and can see from the threads the great annoyance its causes local people, especially those with children, as children dont necessarily take the care to look, so parents have to watch the step of a number of people.

It should have an increased profile, made a clear condition of owning a dog, higher penalties for those who don't bother, as it seems there are many who just flaunt it. On Friern Road it is clear the dog owner does not even stop for the dog to do his thing, the poo becomes a broken trail of lumps....disgusting and infuriating.

Yes, it is disgraceful not to pick up dog poo and there should be fines, no excuse for it.

In similar vein, I do wish people would stop scattering the pavements with broken glass which I happen across daily as well as wretched cooked chicken bones, chewing gum and chocolate. Many a dog ends up in the vet having ingested all three, why people/children have to throw this stuff around I don't know, there are plenty of bins. The glass is hazardous to people, children and animals - it must be the product of a similar mentality to those that litter with dog poo- anti social.

The councillors contact details are easily available on the forum. Maybe it would be a better idea to complain to them direct rather than whingeing to the world.

I just find it tiring to continue seeing posts saying "to the person that" ...

Do you think this will move the poo? Likelihood is that even if the responsible person read this, they are unlikely to care given they let their dog poo everywhere.

The options are as follows:

1. Bring it up with the person at the time.

2. Contact the council. If enough complaints are heard, then action may be taken.

3. Pick up the poo yourself.

4. Start a "poo police".

All I am saying is that people shouldnt come on here cluttering the forum with random and pointless poo rants, as its a complete waste of time.

Maybe the Administrator could look into a sort-of autofilling template for this sort of thing?

TO THE PERSON WHO

a) soiled my garden/street/suit

b) lives next door

a) looked a me in a funny way

PLEASE

a) bring a sponge and water with mild detergent

b) move

c) catch a different bus

That sort of thing? Admin?

Some of the posts actually make me laugh at times - in a sad sort of way.

I just dont see the point of aimlessly ranting about it, because it wont move the poo.

As for having poo on your shoes or your pram, I usually go around the poo and not plough straight through it. It has worked for me so far anyway ...

The sanctimoniousness of this - it's easy for you to step around it. What about those who are blind or visually impaired or just not that nimble? Anyone who has ever pushed a stroller or a wheelchair will know that you cannot see what is directly in front of you - neither can you make quick avoidance manoeuvres.

Every time I walk to school, through the minefield of poo, I have to stop myself thinking about all the children, having walked through it because they don't look where they are going, sitting down on the carpet - don't think I need to elaborate further.

OK posting on here is not going to help much but the fact that it keeps cropping up suggests it ranks up there with the great M&S/Waitrose debate?

I love fishing ... always get a bite.

I think the poo thread definitely ranks up there with M&S/Waitrose ... I also like the "I saw police on Lordship Lane ... does anyone know whats going on?". And the almost weekly "where to eat in ED" thread. I figure this has been done about 100 times already.

To be fair, the forum does give me an amusing release when I need a break in the day.

Friern Road had A4 size flyers stuck to trees earlier this week saying "the Poo Fairy does not exist - please pick up your own dog's poo, seal and deposit in any bin" complete with glossy picture of a fairy holding a poo bag.

They were ripped down within a day of going up. A guilty dog owner did not like them much I guess.

    • I'd reread what you posted and try to summarise.  It just comes across as a rant.
    • Just shows, to me, once proud to be a citizen of UK.. now.. well if we pay/contribute to services - nhs, police, fire etc and folk who have made this there home - no matter what creed or culture.. for the love c of God, can someone  please explain to me.. how we have working royals who like them or not, have tried and continue to actually support and make a change and then we have Andrew.. who just destroys everything.. not just him, or royalty but his own children..  I had great admiration for The Queen - and respect.. as have a huge number of people.. but.. these old traditions where gosh.. live rent free and can’t get chucked out until I believe 2070? From what I scanned..well he has and continues to have it all.. has to go thru what old rules? Etc.  doubt very much he has even kept the upkeep maintenance up on his abode.. and do the shite keeps on pulling up.. What has Andrew done for UK or for that matter since he was 20?? Do please tell me       Totally off topic, before anyone jumps down my throat.. I just do not get how anyone is proud to be British at this point in time. Whoever is in power, seems to be able to help themselves to the public purse with no redress at all - Covid is a great example of lining of pockets.. Millions  given to Rowanda, so one is led to believe, to help with refugee problem and one can’t get a plane load off!  I simply do not get it at all. Use of food banks in UK growing yearly, homeless as well, nhs, police, fire service etc all on their knees..
    • Have applied the green roof at a number of properties and no issues you are concerned about detected. Have issues with cats defecating in the vicinity, however, they are not selecting the green roof specifically. Use decent compost, slow release fertiliser specific for green roofs, and lay it methodically not leaving blank patches. It looks amazing when cared for and adds value.
