Where is it you went to, please?

Talked to postee today they don't have enough staff to sort it due to self isolating holidays and people leaving it's just piling up it will just keep getting worse Peckham sorting office was to small for the area before East Dulwich closed so we've got no chance of much improvement.

I?ve had 4 letters in the past two weeks on two separate days delivered to the wrong house !

I purchased an item on 7Th sept to arrive no later than the 11 Th it?s tracked but nothing yet , I rang the complaints head office who were very nice and gave me a ref number this was for thr first two letters missed posted and within two days it happened again 😡

The package has still not come and so the seller can claim for the cost . A week ago they sent me a replacement which still hasn?t come !

I?m Belvoir road

I saw three different Royal Mail vans plus two other postmen on our street today and still no post.

Speaking with work colleagues their post hasn't been an issue during the past year and my family receive post the week I send it. It's clearly the Sorting Office that's the problem and despite Helen Hayes getting involved, nothing has changed and it will only get worse nearer Christmas.

I found if parcels or small packages were sent tracked 24 or 48, I got the deliveries on time this week, but there were delays to normal post again this week.

Clearly if you pay more, the Royal Mail is prioritising those over thoss sent standard 1st/2nd class.

I went to the sorting office on Saturday and explained my missing post. The very friendly member of staff did find one parcel for me, which they did apparently try to deliver 2 weeks ago (no card left though). As for my other missing items, I was told these are in a big pile which will be delivered at some point... I have already waited 6 weeks, so I wonder how big this pile is!

Hi James,

I just received a package that was posted nearly four weeks ago and another item from nearly two weeks ago. I?m on Melbourne Grove and saw two young posties I didn?t recognise that have probably brought in to get rid of a backlog/pile of post.

The thing is the online Royal Mail tracker updated after it was delivered but the delivery date it states is Sept 8 (when it should have arrived) but this is obviously false as it was just delivered today. Surely this should be investigated as it is a deliberate mistruth?

Out of interest, are you also working to sort the issue long term?

It wouldn't be the first time a councillor has taken to nudging RM on this subject and it sorts it self for a short time before reverting back to the new norm of no post.

Thanks James for raising this. My mum has had to step sending gifts to her grand children as the parcels never arrive. She was particularly upset that the last gift for my kids, sent a couple of months ago, never made it. What is even more infuriating is that there seems to be no recourse. What other business would be able to deliver such shocking service, losing valuable property placed in its charge, with zero apology or accountability !?
If they are struggling to make deliveries because of staff shortage then they should not be taking people?s money and falsely representing that their property is safe and will be delivered as promised. Surely it can?t be brushed aside as ?one of those things?.

Yes, same here. I receive details of medical appointments by text and am in favour of that as it saves paper. I am more worried about financial stuff getting lost in the post. And personal items, eg letters from family and friends.

Haven?t received Christmas cards that where sent second week in December, haven?t received Christmas Presents that we?re posted 14th Dec. Received medical letters yesterday that were posted 5th December (first Mail I?ve received since mid November)

    • Hi, I accidentally drove off and left a red travel longchamp bag with various clothes / makeup in on Dovercourt Road earlier today... if anyone managed to pick it up please do let me know!  Nothing valuable is in it, just clothes and make-up that I'd love to get back if I can!

    • What about Dulwich park?
    • Looking at the areas which will be receiving funds, there seems to be a couple of pretty fundamental flaws with the scheme. In many of these areas, spend isn't migrating from high streets to online, there simply isn't any disposable income to migrate. No amount of tarting a place up is going to change the fact that these places are the poorest and most deprived in country - people simply have nothing to spend. Secondly, a lot of these areas no longer have an extant retail infrastructure to improve upon - it went donkey's years ago, along with the pubs. My childhood high street is getting a grant. Maybe they'll liven up Market Street by celebrating our notable locals - they could commission a Ricky Hatton mural, a statue of The Moors Murderers or a 'Walk of Shame' pavement for Harold Shipman's victims (it's quite a long street). But, whatever it is, I doubt it's going to show a decent return when the only businesses still trading are 'Bargain Booze' outlets, Bangladeshi takeaways, bookies and barbers.
