Ho ho ho I'm afraid we have to plead guilty to parking an aged jag outside The Gowlett whilst wolfing down pizzas, though the jag is of the incorrect vintage for your purposes Snorky.

Although it isn't that clear from the post - I think PGC is quoting a Telegraph interview with the dreaded J. Nesbitt.

Some friends of mine used to have a photo of a business rival pinned to the office wall, so that they could throw darts at it.

Perhaps someone can dig out an image of said Mr Nesbitt, and we could toss our virtual darts towards his nether regions? It could have health benefits: getting rid of excessive stress.

Maybe people could put some more background stuff in their posts.

Along the lines of saw....Sean Connery in .... Dr.Boos....he was giving out their refund policy on shower gel...

That sort of thing.

Ps - I did see someone famous today, but it was v boring

Oh, go on. Boring or not, tell us who it was.

Oh her. I?ve seen her in Sainsbury?s. Sainsbury?s I say! I thought slebritees had all their meals at Gordon Ramsay?s before going to some fancypants night clubs where they tip illegal immigrants ?100 per nostril for blowing cocaine up their noses while they quaff vintage champagne. What would they want in Sainsbury?s?
It is beginning to look as if poor Ms Ford is to replace Mr Nesbitt as the EDF's favourite thespian whipping person. I know neither of them personally and have somewhat mixed feelings about their respective Teevee performances. But personal remarks/insults? Haven't we been here before in Another Thread about a certain shopkeeper in LL? Play the game people!
Surely we are allowed to have views of either like or dislike for a "celebrity" after all that is what they are there for. It's not like it's possible to damage their "image" (they are more than capable of doing it theirselves) or in the case of shop owners, their business.

>>u saying that she wouldn't be likely to read a snippet in a mag of a similar nature about herself? :-| >sheesh you become a celeb u take the comments that go wiv it *sighs*<<

Oh come on! There are "celebrities" in the modern form - Kerry Katona, Katie Price, anyone who ever appeared in "Big Brother" etc etc - who are talentless and whose whole raison d'etre is appearing in trashy magazine and crap chat shows. They are in reality probably not as famous as they like to imagine they are.

And there are those who have merely become "famous" at some point in their lives - like Nesbiit & Ford - usually on merit (ok, "merit" can sometimes be quite broadly defined in this context).

I am sure Ford & Nesbitt can take the sort of comments that occasionally get made on here. Their acquired thick skin is not the issue. I just don't agree it is acceptable to be gratuitously rude about someone and use their fame as the justification. Personally I don't think anyone should post any comments in here about a local person they would not hesitate to say to their face...

    • What was he doing on the stage at Glastonbury? Or on the stage at the other concert in Finsbury Park? Grinning like a Cheshire cat whilst pissed and stoned 20 somethings on the promise of free internet sung-- Oh Jeremy Corbyn---  What were his policies for Northern mining towns with no jobs or infrastructure? Free Internet and university places for youngsters. What were his other manifesto pledges? Why all the ambiguity over Brexit?  I didn't like Thatcher, Blair or May or Tony but I respected them as politicians because they stood by what they believed in. I respect all politicians across the board that stick to their principles. Corbyn didn't and its why he got  annihilated at the polls. A socialist, anti imperialist and anti capitalist that said he voted for an imperialist and pro capitalist cabal. He refused to say how he'd vote over and over again until the last knockings. He did so to appease the Islington elite and middle class students he was courting. The same people that were screaming that Brexit was racist. At the same time the EU were holding black and Asian immigrants in refugee camps overseas but not a word on that! Corbyn created and courted a student union protest movement that screamed at and shouted down anyone not on the left . They claimed Starmer and the centre right of labour were tories. He didn't get elected  because he, his movement and policies were unelectable, twice. He turned out not to have the convictions of his politics and died on his own sword.    Reform won't win an election. All the idiots that voted for them to keep out Labour actually enabled Labour. They'll be back voting tory next time.    Farage wouldn't be able to make his millions if he was in power. He's a very devious shyster but I very much doubt he'd actually want the responsibility that governance requires.
    • The purge of hard left members that were part of Corbyn's, Mcdonnel's and Lansmans momentum that purged the party of right wing and centrist members. That's politics. It's what Blair did to win, its what Starmer had to do to win. This country doesn't vote in extreme left or right governments. That's partly why Corbyn lost  We're pretty much a centrist bunch.  It doesn't make it false either. It's an opinion based on the voting patterns, demography and statistics. Can you explain then why former mining constituencies that despise the tories voted for them or abstained rather than vote for Corbyns Labour?  What is the truth then? But he never got elected!!! Why? He should have been binned off there and then. Why he was allowed to hang about is an outrage. I hold him party responsible for the shit show that we've had to endure since.
