No - Not a remake of the old 60's classic Goodbye Mr Chips (although the title does have a link)

Sadly Mays Newsagents (44 Barry Road) shut their doors over the weekend as Mr and Mrs Patel have decided to retire and enjoy life for a bit.

No more potato Chips (hence the title link) and I would just like to wish them both well and a happy retirement.

If you are concerned where to get your Newspapers, bus pass, oyster tickets or potato chips now? Barry's off license has taken over all of the above (but how heartless of you to ask rather then wishing Mr Patel well... shame on you (6))

Bye Bye Mr Patel!!

I always used to pop to that shop after school ( Waverley) when I was a wee little girl to buy some crisps and a drink.

I hope they have a lovely retirement chilling out and doing things they couldn't find time for since running a shop takes over your life.

Well aren't we all lovely and friendly. Good luck to them in their retirement, they've been there as long as I can remember, and Funnily enough, never been rude to me. Maybe when people have no respect for shopkeepers and talk to them like servants, it's hard for the shopkeeper to keep smiling... Just a thought.

AI suggests: Upcycling old cheque books can involve repurposing the paper from old checks into creative items like notebooks, journals, art pieces, gift tags, bookmarks, decorative paper, or even small boxes, by cutting, decorating, and assembling the paper to create new functional or decorative objects, while ensuring any personal banking information is properly obscured or removed. And there is vid too
