I was just taking the proverbial wee wee.

Mines a JD please.

Where would one buy such a thing as a rehydration drink?

Can you put vodka in them?

I have tried the re-hydration solution we were shown as kids as an emergency treatment in case we were stranded somewhere and were struck down with diarrhea or food poisoning. (Why they taught us this stuff I have no idea) It is a spoonful of salt and a spoonful of sugar in a pint of water.

Anyway the old hungover brain has in the past gone through the thought process of. ?I?m horribly dehydrated, let me try that magic solution they showed us at school.?

Problem is it tastes foul and makes me want to vomit which kinda defeats the object.

All my grandparents lived well into their 90?s and my dad is currently pushing 80 with absolutely no sign of slowing down so I think the benchmark should be at least 4 score and ten.

I will therefore refrain from thinking of myself as middle aged until I am at least 45 and/or I have children who are old enough to be embarrassed of me.

I get the blackcurrant one. It's not nice by any stretch, but you casn keep it down.

Once or twice I have done a pre-emptive strike and taken one before bed, and woken up feeling right as rain, but usually I don't have the wits about me for all that, and just pass out.

When I lived in NZ a McD's cheeseburger and banana milkshake on the walk home used to sort me out. And then McD's for breakfast - "hot cakes and syrup"... a delicacy I don't think they offer in the UK, followed by a hash brown & hot chocolate. I was a really healthy specimen back then!

It really works though, its magic stuff!

I was dubious when my friend told me of its powers - she had been given it by an airport pharmacist and claimed she was right as rain in an hour. We were both suffering on the day I tried the remedy (to the point we had to send a cab to the airport to collect another friend since there was no way either of us could contemplate driving!) We had to share a sachet as that was all that was left and we were in Sweden at the time where it is not available to buy. Half a sachet and Pirates of the Carribean was all it took for a full recovery!

I always keep a box in the house now :-) DOnt think Resolve works the same way as Resolve Extra though!

Hope it works Anna.

I have purchased me some of the aforementioned Resolve Extra and the aforementioned rehydration salts. All ready for the weekend. I?m never normally this prepared for anything in my life. :-S

And now it looks like Saturday may be cancelled anyway.

    • Yes - adult care is a large part of the CT bill.  That does not mean the council spend our money well or wisely.
    • “What do councils spend all the money on?” Is, in my view, one of the most profoundly emblematic of our times  we go about our lives, backed up by councils and governments and complain they aren’t needed  reform win elections based on “we’re gonna go in and slash all the waste!” Only to later admit there effectively isn’t any oh and by the way we need to increase council tax   Now all we have to offer is racism and ineptitude sorry about that  https://www.gbnews.com/money/reform-elon-musk-doge-failed-savings So where does the money go? On a multitude of services - but the increasingly aged population and the care provision required is a large part of it  the government could give councils more money to avoid council tax rises  - but the we would have to pay more in jewels taxation  and as a country we tend to pay less than other similar countries  so we end up with an expensive mend and make do approach  I don’t see any political parties offering a solution   Starmer is obviously lacking in many areas but he is the result of a hostile media and a reluctant population willing to hear truths  (wait until we hear how much we will need to increase defence spending by in the coming years) If a party stopped pretending all the money was wasted but published a list of costs, projections and proposals that wasn’t gutted to suit the landscape of needing to not bemonstered by the press or deemed too expensive by voters I would be very interested      can’t see that happening tho  (also worth reminding ourselves of all the brexiters who said things like “I don’t care how much it costs   I don’t care if I lose my job  it’s about taking back control!” And yet now we find them complaining about increasing costs. As they always will complain about everything  because it’s always someone else’s fault)
    • I wouldn't be going all the way to Dobbies  just to take flowerpots! 😀 It's a very good garden centre with a wide range of well kept  plants and helpful staff, at least it was on the only occasion I've visited it, last year!
