I live above the dentists and havent noticed any new cafe(then again I did lose my eyesight in a freak kite flying accident)...could it be true? Is this an attempt by the residents of Lordship Lane to provide a safety run off for all the yummy mummies occupying everywhere with a seat on the lane. Good thinking. I shall visit forthwith.
I'm all for it. Hopefully it'll help that parade 'get better'. The revamped launderette, the beauty parlour, Si Mangia, Anatolya and the established businesses are all good, but there's still an air of shabbiness about the place. Does anyone know who owns the yellow and blue place next to the barber's? It's a dump. And what is the blue place on the corner? PM me if anyone knows. Nero
The yellow and blue place used to be the Morrocan type bistro (something Tree I think), then it moved to where Si Mangia is now before being took over by Si Mangia staff. The owner of the old Moroccan place is still around as I see him occasionally.

It was called Two Trees - I was racking my brain trying to remember it!

It may be a bit premature to visit as yet. They only picked the keys up today. :))

I loved Two Trees when it was in the 'yellow and blue' shop, it just went down-hill when it moved to where the Italian is now, shame as it was really popular before it moved.

I see Anatolya is closed AGAIN for refurbishments, I'm sure there is a link between new eating places opening and Anatolya closing to re-invent itself, the funny thing is I have rarely seen anyone in there so am wondering how the place makes any money! :-S

Will be great to have a new coffee shop will mean I don't have to sit outside in the cold to avoid all the awful noisy children in the park cafe!!! >:D<

I think its a tough stretch to make a restaurant work there. One of those dead spots.Could be a coffee shop could open it up a bit. Its very functional, chemist, post office, barber, newsagent, bookies, launderette. Not really an evening spot or afternoon hang out type of area is it? Will take imagination to make it work.
I agree that FHR is predominantly functional in terms of businesses there, but am confident that a revamped Anatolya and a new coffee shop will encourage more interest from customers and perhaps other businesses. Nevertheless, I still would like the parade to be pleasanter in terms of the way it looks. We'll see. Nero
I walked past the other day and a tall blonde lady was opening up for the builders with the biggest dog I have ever seen. Looked a bit like an Irish Wolfhound, but black rather than grey. She said "slowly" when I asked how the builders were getting on. Great news and just what the parade needs.
Thumbs up for this. I hope it works out well. Any new addition to this part of the area has to be good. After the lovely people at Si Mangia moved there last year all this parade needs is a few more better shops and or restaurants. Hopefully Anatolya will be up and running again soon as well or maybe in another guise. This parade of shops just needs a little sprucing up and it could be very pleasant.

I dint think that (and self describing as a Marxist) would have helped much when Labour was changed under Starmer. There was a purge of people as far left as him that he was lucky to survive once in my opinion.   Stuff like this heavy endorsement of Momentum and Corbyn. It doesn't wash with a party that is in actual government.   https://labourlist.org/2020/04/forward-momentum-weve-launched-to-change-it-from-the-bottom-up/
    • I perceive the problem.simply as spending too much without first shoring up the economy.  If the government had reduced borrowing,  and as much as most hate the idea, reduced government deiartment spending (so called austerity) and not bowed to union pressures for pay rises, then encouraged businesses to grow, extra cash would have entered the coffers and at a later stage when the economy was in a stronger position rises in NI or taxes would have a lesser impact, but instead Reeves turned that on its head by increasing ni which has killed growth, increased prices and shimmied the economy.  What's worse is that the perceived 20 billion black hole has increased to 30 billion in a year. Is there a risk that after 5 years it could be as high as 70 billion ???
    • That petition is bananas.   If you want a youth centre there pay the landlord the same rent a Londis would and build it yourself or shut the f**k up to be honest. Wasting our MPs time with this trivial nonsense is appalling. If your kids are still out at 1am on a school night you've got bigger problems than vapes and booze and hot sausage rolls.
