Netty, trust me, you'd feel so much better doing it with a sexy looking, over priced, state-of-the-art 'nail gun'...

Not everyone buys them because they think they look cool.

Some of us are just stupid don'tknowanybetters or rather, not very tech-savvy and quite like having a machine that tells us exactly what to do and when eg "click on this button now, yes THIS one, to update virus software" as opposed to a "go to settings, install this, uninstall that, run this" assuming you know what you're doing then when it realises you don't, "RTFM you moron" scenario.

I'm sure if I knew anything about computers, I may well dislike using a mac or spending more money on one to do same things I can do for less.

Bah and Humbug!! Buy an Apple product and you are buying into a closed eco-system. Compatibility with any non-apple products, hardware or software will prove to be a major headache (install itunes on a PC and see the mess).

Sure they look good and are of great quality, robust and reliable. But cost a fortune!

Apple have built in restraints to prevent home upgrades, the internals are nothing special and again restricted at OS/X level, force you into upgrading early on in the machines life, To gain any rewards from using any of their products hassle free you end up buying them all! Disgusting company IMHO who in their right mind likes spending a monkey to buy a dog?

I think the point is that it takes all your MP3s and converts them to the itunes format, thus taking up a load more disk space with duplicate media. They could have just played MP3s and shared.

I hate itunes. Deleted it a couple of years ago, but have now reinstalled for use with ipod, but that is the only reason I use it. Just find it somehow non user friendly.

Itunes is like the puffer fish of the 'puter world- its seems to sorta expand, spending its entire life updating itself and hogging whatever mmemory you have to spare. I hate Itunz with a passion for this reason alone.

fair enough if you actually use Macs n ting for a specific purpose, where it probabaly excels - I can cope with that, but given that 95% of the population use a puter to surf the net and visit a maximum of 10 sites in an average month, of which only about 3 or 4 are actually regular visits, its a bit wanky to buy a mac for this. Its like buying a rolex seadweller to go for a bit of rafts and rascals action in dulwich pool on sundays.

I actually get on quite well with itunes these days, though it has taken a while to get it's act together, at least as far as PCs are concerned.

It doesn't convert anything, indeed it has mp3 codecs if that's what you want to rip to.

It no worse a performer than some of the alternatives, half of which seem to be clones, and significantly better than say Sony's offering.

Mind you they're all becoming marketing portals and I really just want organisation software so may take the leap to Media Monkey or suchlike eventually. WHatever is compatible with ALAC (doh!!) and [probably] Sonos in the new house.

I did silly amounts of research at Xmas and found problems with every bally tablet - particularly as they want to snare you into their traps. I consider Apple as virtually a closed market, both in terms of competition and the controls on the retail price. Post above echoes some of this. Selling at a higher cost (and Kindle as well) to the Eurpean market smacks of hypocracy from the land of free trade (Harley Davison are only in business due to the money the State pumped into them and punative taxation on large imported motorbikes back in the day). Something good to be said about the EU in a level playing field.

Some of the more informative reviews on Amazon were helpful. I ended up buying the family an Ipad and managed to squeeze a few quid out of the Apple store in convincing them that I could get a discount (bally hard work). Mind you the ipod thingy does all the stuff the iphone seems to do apart from calls and texts at a third of the cost.

People cross the road when they see my three year old non smart mobile phone to avoid the embarassment.

    • Where did I say he did a good job? Yup and Corbyn was very close to Len McCluskey and funded by Unite wasn't he...they're all as bad as each other... Labour have to purge their party of the far-left - they're a disaster. Allan Johnson summed it up so well on election night in 2019....
    • Thank you for the detailed advise @trinidad It is definitely damage we are concerned about. I don’t think Evri would agree to pay the bill to fix our gate or letter box if they were to be damaged as a result of their delivery drivers helper. Our doorbell can be heard from outside when rung so we don’t quite believe the aggressive simultaneous door/letter box banging is necessary. It can be quite a shock it is done very aggressively.  I’ll definitely action the steps you’ve kindly provided along with a phone call tomorrow. I do sympathise with the role drivers have and how busy they are, which is why we tried communicating directly with her but sadly we haven’t succeeded
    • What outcome would you like? Disciplinary action? Not to have the driver back? Retraining? I know there is alot of pressure on drivers to deliver within a set day. if he slams the gate, is it evidence he is causing damage, or is the noise a irritant to yourself? You could put a sign up or buy a signing asking to close the gate gentle???? can you hear the door bell from the door? he might be ringing, not hearing and therefore knocking. In trhe notes section of the be livery page, there is a note section, although there is not 100 per cent these notes would be read as these drivers are constantly rushing.  I did a google search for you, i found this and you can try the envri website Contact Us | Evri   To complain to Evri, you can follow these steps: Contact Customer Service: Call Evri's customer service at 0330 808 5456 for assistance with your complaint.    1 Write a Letter: Address your complaint to Capitol House, 1 Capitol Close, Morley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS27 0WH.    1 Use the Official Website: Visit the Evri complaints page on their official website for detailed instructions on how to submit a complaint.    2 Email or Call for Specific Issues: For issues like missing or damaged parcels, you can email or call 0800 988 8888, which is free to call.    1 These methods will help you effectively communicate your concerns to Evri.   My driver is called anthony, he is brilliant to be honest. I cant fault him.
    • When I have more time and energy, I will look up the actual number of votes cast for each party in that election, rather than the number of seats won. I'm interested to see that you apparently  think that  Boris Johnson did a good job of "leading the country through Covid." Is your memory really that short? I won't stoop to calling Johnson and his cronies names in the way that you seem to think is appropriate for left wing politicians. At least the left wing politicians have some semblance of morals and a concern for people who aren't in some over privileged inner circle and/or raking in money for themselves on the back of an epidemic. I'm not going to open a can of worms on here  by commenting on the disgraceful so called "purge".
