I do love a bit of snook' every now and then and the Essex Exocet, Ronnie "The Rocket" O'Sullivan has reaffirmed my faith with one of the most awesome 147 maximums I've ever seen! And he did it to win the match. ?157,000 for about 8 mins work. Not bad, son, not bad at all.

You can watch it again (and again) on BBC iplayer but no doubt it'll be on again this evening on BBC2.

Anyone else a fan? Anyone else fancy a game? I haven't played for years but used to be alright. I'm better at American pool though if anyone know's a local venue for a knock-about on the green baize.

Edited for appalling grammar, punctuation and spelling

I used to have a sort of dismal fascination with the game. It was easy to get drawn in, but it also sent me into a bit of a trance. It was only later, after not having played for a while, that I finally decided that I don't actually like it that much. (As for why I didn't notice this sooner, I blame the aforementioned trance.)

Funnily enough I went to a place in East Dulwich today to sign up for membership to a place just off LL(the street name eludes me)that has 5 snooker tables(2 quid an hour). Its a proper old social club too so cheap beer and cardboard beermats too. I'll get back to you with the address sometime tonight.

I'm afraid of Snooker, ever since my Dad took me to his snooker club (Christmas Eve treat.. 'the wife' too) and I was distressed to discover that the table itself it literally the size of half a football field.

Better to stick to pool, where any idiot with zero hand-eye coordination (that's me) can sink a couple of balls if you hit the hard enough and hope for the best.

I?d be up for a game, I like snooker me. As for watching it, well I?d rather be bored thanks.

If the thought of playing with small balls on a big pitch whilst scrutinised by the portraits of long dead Tory PMs or actually having to leave the borders of ED is too daunting, ?tis always the option of pool at the Gowlett or The Castle.

Remember this?

All together now....

"Snooker loopy nuts are we

Me and him and them and me.

We'll show you what we can do

With a load of balls and a snooker cue.

Pot the red and screw back

For the yellow, green, brown, blue

Pink and black.

Snooker loopy nuts are we

We're all snooker loopy!"

No?

Just me then.

    • Hello, Recently there have been various comments made on the forum which have resulted in heated discussions being had. I for one, hold up my hand and wanted to personally thank whoever is keeping the forum going.. remember when it was likely to close. We are all adults and should known when it is right to continue or just ignore or if really feel it necessary comment via pm. I have had a long relationship with the forum and have bought, sold, offered advice and in deed made friends on the forum over the years. It is a public forum after all and everyone is entitled to express their opinion and is also free. I am not as tech minded as most but with the season of good will approaching and-knowing in this economic climate how many people are  struggling, I  thought it would be a lovely idea, to perhaps set up a just giving page to raise funds for a local charity who might appreciate a contribution towards their Christmas festivities… On a practical side, might just be to complicated to administer as I am sure all have charities that we support so my other thought was not me, as I am useless but to set up a just giving page and whatever monies are raised, perhaps contribute to the festivities that use to be run by local shops or whatever.. Maybe even use a local church hall and just make it special for perhaps folk that find it difficult to access events or no access for say wheel chair users.. guess really, one is looking for guidance from the church and of course volunteers. Shoot me down if you must or feel the need but this is my view and no, sadly I won’t be around in the months before Christmas but can help remotely.
    • Hi all Does anyone know someone who can make a window seat cushion and cover? See image of window seat. Thank you.
    • Don't know why but it seems like there have been impromptu fireworks since early September. At one point I even wondered if there was a shooting range or something like that over Dulwich Hamlet way- the direction where the firework sounds seem to be coming from? Is there some kind of new, fireworks craze going on and where are people getting them, out of season?
