Letting Agents in East Dulwich

Hi Everyone

I have a 2 bed flat to let in East Dulwich an I was hoping some fellow for unites could share your experiences with letting agents - which ones to avoid and which ones are the gems.

Foxtons seem to have the biggest presence on the high street but it appears to be run by high school dropouts and all I ever hear about them is negative.

Daisy Lets seem to get good reviews.

Be grateful for any help in choosing who to let my flat.

Many thanks

Mark

Hi Mark

Having worked on Lordship Lane as an estate agent (in sales) and lived in the area for 12 years, Daisy Lets would be the ones I would recommend as they have always had great reviews on the EDF and I know a number of people who have had dealings with them and it has all been very positive.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Regards

Brendan

Do not use Ludlow Thomson - they are horrific to deal with, and stitched up both us (as the landlord) and our tenants, by lying (through omission) to both of us.

They did not point out that they would change our utility supplier to Spark (lesson learnt, read the contract carefully and dont let them do that) and they switched the gas / electric supplies and the tennants got a horrific shock.

Search the forum, lots of info on this, and do not rent from them, and if you do rent through Foxtons scrub any terms in the contract allowing them to switch your suppliers - read it carefully

    • I am no expert, but are your photos not saved in Google or similar, as well as being on your physical  phone? If so, you should just be able to access them on your new phone without actually having to move them over? Same with emails, normally, you just have to sign into your email account on your new phone to access them? Not sure re contacts, but I don't recall having any problems when getting a new phone. And apps you can just reinstall. Google or something like ChatGPT could probably "talk" you through sorting, deleting and editing photos and emails, if you can't find someone to help (sorry I can't, I'd be too worried about doing something wrong!) Good luck! Don't delete anything from your old phone until you are sure it's on your new phone!
    • Do you have a link to this? The only one i could find was on the 24th July
    • Yes and I heard the other day that there is a higher conviction rate with trials heard by only a judge, vs juries, which makes sense when you think about it.  Also - call me cynical - I can't help but think that this justice reform story was thrown out to overshadow the Reeves / OBR / Budget story.  But I do agree with scrapping juries for fraud cases.
    • judges are, by definition, a much narrower strata of society. The temptation to "rattle through" numbers, regardless of right, wrong or justice is fundamentally changed If we trust judges that much, why have we ever bothered with juries in the first place? (that's a rhetorical question btw - there is no sane answer which goes along the lines of "good point, judges only FTW"
