We have a kids' free night on Saturday and the missus and I are thinking of hitting SE15 (it's hip doncha know). Thinking Begging Bowl (do we need to book?), that bar by the station and the Bussey Building (soul train) any other recommendation, ideas locally? I know, I know, I am ancient but the missus less so.

The Montpellier has been in good form recently quids. My route is Bar Story then onto MontyP. Never been to the Shirley Bussey but heard good things. Bar Story closes round 10 and quite a spill from there go to Montpellier, which gives a nice mix of young and old team.

Had a glass of wine in the Peckham Refreshment Room last week. Nice but very busy and cramped.

Can't book begging bowl.

This is the new kid on the block Quidsy:

Make sure to wear your skinniest jeans and something ironic. You'll love it.

If you don't fancy Begging Bowl, Ganapati is just around the corner or, if a short walk is ok, then the South London Gallery does lovely food and I think is open late on Fridays.

Shame Frank's isn't open for another few weeks - forecast is good for Sat night as well too (a prerequisite for Franks)

I'd be inclined to go begging bowl. Peckham Refreshment sounds like a definite but given size and popularity I'm waiting a few weeks

(that said as you can't book Begging Bowl, you might not want to wait if there is a queue, killing any buzz)

Years ago Salsa, when it was still there!

Went to:

Our garden for a Vodka and Redbull starter

Victoria to wait for Begging Bowl - for 10 mins

Begging Bowl - very impressed with food, less so with staffing levels for a place that packed, 35 mins before we even got our drinks.

The Monty, nice let your food go down and last chance for proper beer, multiple beards, i felt naked without one.

A bar, under the arches behind Bar Story (which was closed by then), starting to get hazy now but I was easily old enough to be everyone's father

The Busy Building - via a massive queue. I quite enjoyed the queue as it made me relieved i don't have to do that anymore and my bladder just made it. Really like the BB, decor wise industrial urban warehousey vibe (I like), music downstairs OK a bit above school disco standard, upstairs loved it, Rare Groove, busted some moves but no trouser seems or blood vessels.

Home before 2.

    • Some foxes are very tame. The foxes that live near the electricity sub-station thing on the corner of Calton and Woodwarde will happily walk up to you/passed you. They are some of the best looking foxes around so clearly being well-fed - glorious coats and bushy tails but interested in humans and keen to engage/be fed rather than being scared.
    • Let’s not all get scared of the foxes now. Most likely explanation is protecting its den or association with food. We have foxes, and cats and they are no bother to each other. The fox will leave when the cats are out.
    • I remember seeing something a few years ago on TV about a fox that was actually biting through people's shopping / takeaway food bags.  It was situated in an alleyway.  Not in London.  Very interesting in how the  urban foxes brain development has  been affected by their surroundings.   Not an exact quote from Darwin.  It's the adaptable that survive / not the strongest or the most intelligent.   I would be worried if a fox came close me.   Because they might be after my fur babies and they carry a lot of nasties.   Although they look beautiful from a distance or on a 🎄 card.
    • Driving down Lordship lane around 2.45pm today saw a v sick looking fox walking in and out of the crowd.
