As i left my house in the morning, it was there again. i actually got a better look at it. It wasn't a Red Admiral but something that looked like a Painted Lady http://http//1.bp.blogspot.com/_KKOjBo6EGMg/SdpgT80p-rI/AAAAAAAACSk/6qOHxRJ_3Cs/s320/painted-lady-butterfly.jpg i'm not 100% though.

Saw four carp in the lake today, all at least a foot long. Have these always been there? I have never seen them before and wonder how they survived the heron and the fish-poachers...

Still no sign of the Japanese garden bridge being fixed despite being told previously they were hoping to do it last month...

The foxes are getting as bold as brass.

Last month I reported one here that was almost challenging me on Court Lane.

Last week I saw a particularly fine example preening itself in the middle of my neighbour's back lawn in brilliant sunshine at 11 a.m. Like he owned the place.

They just don't care, do they?

This is going to sound odd, but I think I saw a Merlin today on the Rye in the far SE corner. It kept going into the scrub - don't know what it was feeding on. Is it likely that one could be in London? Pretty sure it wasn't a sparrowhawk.

Rumours of brock sightings on the Rye:

"What are you always nagging for?" inquired the Badger rather peevishly. "What's the matter with his English? It's the same what I use myself, and if it's good enough for me, it ought to be good enough for you!"

I expect the parakeets in our local parks would taste of leftover cheese sandwich and maize-based snacks. So you'd probably want something quite spicy to perk that up a bit.

Or else roast, and then serve as part of a cold collation with some pickles and sweet young lettuce.

    • Hope all the ‘high streets for people’ events went well! Very short notice probably for people living in the area and on a very hot day!  James McAsh just doesn’t know what to do next with Southwark Council Tax payers money. He advocates the few streets in the area that has a bus service and then shuts the routes down! Very annoying for people who want to go about their daily business and have already had restrictions brought in by McAsh.
    • Thank goodness for Greg. I had an awful situation whereby I was notified that water was leaking from my flat into the flat below me. I was 150 miles away at the time and had a panicked journey home not knowing what I was going to face.   I called Greg (after seeing reviews on the forum) as soon as I arrived home in the evening and he arrived just after 10pm and was able to shut off the problem. He had to come back to finalise the job which turned out to be caused in a communal area whereby there was a blockage in the stack pipe.   Greg worked quickly, efficiently and informed me every step of the way as to what he was doing and why. He also cleaned up really well afterwards.  Greg's charges are very reasonable and he will definitely be my "go-to" if I have any other plumbing issues in the future.
