Particularly if uttered by Fiona Phillips/Paul O'Grady or any other day time TV dicksplash.

'Gotten' instead of 'got'. It is very, very affected and very, very naff.

'Random' is another hackneyed word.

In fact, most cliched language gets my goat these days.

If you fancy a real laugh, go and listen to the Jeremy Vine show from Friday at around midday. There was a guest whose English was so poor and so choc-full of cliches that it would be very difficult to have parodied him.

A colleague organises large group meetings that go on for at least two hours and fills them with a quick-fire delivery of as many words as possible ending in 'ality' and 'isation' (we have even had 'isationality') in order to bludgeon everyone else into exhausted submission. I guess the idea is to demonstrate intellectual superiority, but secretly I suspect the stunned silence that follows each speech is because people are too polite to say, 'You do know that's not a real word, don't you.'

It makes my inner Anglo-Saxon seethe.

And I have 3.5 hours of meetings with this colleague tomorrow.

When you kill this bastard, and you should, use this post in your defence. I can't see a jury in the land convicting you.

Gotten is awful.

I abhor dynamic target-focused managementspeak best-practice blah blah policywank bollocks going forward. It invariably makes me think the speaker is either a) an idiot, b) trying to hide something that I won't like or c) both.

Utilize is another pointless, ugly word. Please use use!

She lost her job because she broke the ministerial code of conduct - that has nothing to do with the media. Was she under the spotlight because she was outspoken and happy to aggressivley attack any indiscretion of her opponents? Absolutely. But what's that saying: those who shout loudest often have the most to hide...never has that seemed more apt? Given that scrutiny she would have been wise to have been whiter than white but she wasn't and she has paid the price.
